About EOSC-ENTRUST

EOSC-ENTRUST aims to create a European network of Trusted Research Environments for sensitive data and drive European interoperability by joint development of a common blueprint for federated data access and analysis.

Welcome from the Project Coordinator

Welcome to the first edition of the EOSC-ENTRUST newsletter. EOSC-ENTRUST aims to support the growing need for researchers to work together on sensitive data types by building a European network of Trusted Research Environments (TREs) for sensitive data and developing a common blueprint, or reference architecture, for federated data access and analysis.

The project’s outreach activities will expand the provider network and develop policy papers and guidelines to support the creation of a long-term operational TRE framework within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). EOSC-ENTRUST will also work closely with the SIESTA and TITAN projects, funded in the same call, to provide trusted technical solutions for sensitive data management in EOSC.

As subscribers to this newsletter, you’ll hear all about our news, events and outputs , as well as receiving updates from our project partners. There is a lot to do in the next three years and the project partners have already made a great start!

Highlights

Launch of EOSC-ENTRUST - driving European interoperability for sensitive data access and analysis

The EU-funded EOSC-ENTRUST project launched on 1 March 2024, with the aim of enhancing European interoperability for sensitive data access and analysis. Led by ELIXIR and the EUDAT Collaborative Data Infrastructure (CDI), the project brings together partners from 15 European countries and will run for three years, with an EU contribution of €4.2M.

First version of EOSC-ENTRUST Roadmap Blueprint

The EOSC-ENTRUST Roadmap outlines a strategic development pathway for the EOSC-ENTRUST Blueprint, which aims to create a European network of Trusted Research Environments (TREs) for sensitive data.

EOSC-ENTRUST Requirements and Capabilities workshop

On 7-8 May 2024, EOSC-ENTRUST held its first "Requirements and Capabilities" workshop. This brought stakeholders together from across the project to define minimal requirements of the Blueprint and agree on terminology. The slides of the workshop are available on Zenodo.

The EOSC-ENTRUST website was launched in March 2024. The website includes an overview of project objectives and details of drivers (use cases) and providers. The website will act as a repository for project guidelines and policy papers.

TITAN is developing secure and trustworthy confidential data processing and sharing capabilities, and demonstrating them in the EOSC ecosystem.

The project puts significant emphasis on privacy preservation and AI technological solutions in line with existing ethical, regulatory and legal EU boundaries.
