We would like to extend our Eid Mubarak wishes. May the blessings of Ramadhan continue to be with us on the coming year!
During the second quarter of 2018, Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) worked together with Paguyuban Istri, Pensiunan dan Warakawuri Kementerian Energi dan Sumberdaya Mineral (PIPW KESDM) in conducting a diphtheria vaccination. In the same period, PYC also held its second PYC Knowledge Sharing Series (KSS). The sharing session tried to discuss the energy condition in Indonesia from an energy economics perspective. The event also provided the chance for Dr. Luky Yusgiantoro to discuss the upcoming book on Energy Economics, which he written together with Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro. Dr. Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja and Dr. Pri Agung, as invited speakers by PYC, gave their valuable opinions to improve the book’s content in more details. There were also various comments and suggestions coming from participants.
PYC also conducted a field excursion to Bandung to visit PT Len and Geological Museum. The visit to PT Len was planned to deepen the knowledge about solar PV production as well as PT Len’s other branches of industry such as the military and railway system technology. Meanwhile, the visit to Geological Museum improved some knowledge on geology including the history of oil and gas in Indonesia and the importance of disaster mitigation. During the same period, PYC also visited Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) for a friendly football match, with Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro participated on representing one of PYC’s soccer players.
The academic corner presented here are six opinions written by our researchers. The published opinions cover a broad topic in the energy sector, ranging from a brief outlook on Euro 4 implementation in Indonesia to electricity development in the Natuna Islands. The energy sector is a very integrated sector and by having a broad and integrated point of view on the energy sector, we hope that many are able to see the underlying problem from a better point of view. Hopefully, these opinions will provide exciting insights and additional points of view on the most recent issue in the energy sector.
To celebrate PYC’s 2nd Anniversary this year, we invite professionals as well as academicians to contribute in giving an insight into Indonesia’s energy sector through our Paper Competition. The competition will focus on papers covering the energy sector from the perspective of law, governance, and policy. Due to numerous requests by the participants, we have decided to extend the submission deadline until 16th of July 2018. Hopefully, the paper competition will be able to stimulate professionals and academics to conduct research on the mentioned topic.
PYC will also have another competition for next month. PYC will hold the 3rd Junior Chess Championship which will be available for children up to 9 years old. Please refer to the provided registration guideline in order to sign up for the competition before 9th of August 2018.
We wish the upcoming months will be filled with even more exciting activities and we hope you can join us together to further develop the Indonesia’s energy sector.
As a closing remark, we would like to extend our birthday wishes to Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, the founder of Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center, who celebrated his birthday in 16th of June 2018. All the best wishes from the PYC team!

I have developed my strategy and analytical thinking since then".
Looking back to the enthusiasm of junior participants in previous competitions, PYC again is thrilled to organized another chess competition to commemorate this year’s Indonesia Independence Day.
