WHAT'S NEW WITH AWARE
What's New at Aware? We have a new look for our web site! ![]() It has been three years since we made a major re-design of our website. We’ve had an amazing journey these past three years and we’ve learned so much and been blessed to meet our amazing circle of support partners and team together to help care for people in our community.
A web site tells a story. We thought we would launch a new site to tell our story and at the same time provide great tools and information to touch the lives of people who need assistance to live the best life they can.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE
![]() The Aware Senior Care Circle of Support is a village of skilled individuals and organizations that share the common bond of helping people live well in their homes. This month’s featured partner is Falls River Pharmacy. Owner/Manager Travis Holshouser and team provide an invaluable home delivery of prescriptions which can also include over the counter items. Travis founded and opened Falls River in September of 2004 providing pharmacy care to the residents of North Raleigh. Their mission is to provide the highest level of professional care but on a personal level. Gina and I knew of Travis and Falls River’s fine reputation, but we recently go to know Travis very well starting to work together at the great Independent living community Abbotswood at Stonehenge. Our experience has been absolutely great. He is personal and responsive. Just like us!Watch the recent ZOOM webinar Aware and Falls River Pharmacy held at Abbotswood on Pharmacy Delivery and Medication Management at Abbotswood. Falls River Contact Information:

Normal? Not Normal? As we all age, having some memory loss at times is perfectly normal. But, many of us sometimes question ourselves: “Are these memory loss events normal or an indicator of some form of dementia?”

More than 170,000 people in North Carolina are impacted by all types of Dementia, including Alzheimer’s. The need is great to build a state of caring.
That’s why DA-NC provides CARE (Comfort, Assistance, Resources and Education) to caregivers, individuals, medical professionals and partners in North Carolina. Without DA-NC, there would be no local support organization based in NC. It is the only Dementia-focused organization based in North Carolina where 100 percent of donated funds remain in the state.

![]() Caregiver Corner with Jen: On Challenging and Rewarding Work This episode of Caregiver Corner features Jen Evans, a Personal Care Assistant working with Aware Senior Care at Abbotswood at Stonehenge. Jen discusses what inspired her to work in home care and the challenges of working during the COVID-19 pandemic.
TAKE SOME ACTION
Give Back. Help Someone You Do Not Know. With our blessing of providing home care at Abbotswood at Stonehenge, it feels like Gina and I take the A-Wood bus every day to and from our Cary Townhome, especially Gina.
When driving on the belt and getting off at Glenwood Avenue, there typically is a person with a sign asking for help.
Anyone ever help a person at that spot or at the exit off Wade and Edwards? Downtown Raleigh?
At times I have purchased Harris Teeter gift cards. I hope they use the cards to buy food. I did that the other day. My other “giving channel” is through our wonderful Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club.
Giving pays you back in so many ways. During this pandemic, even more people need help. Take Action! Give Back. It will feel good. ![]() |
