Bernstein Webinar Replay: Pride in a Pandemic—Finding Inspiration During Uncertain Times

Now, more than ever, pride is important. Whether it’s pride in your sexuality, gender, race, or nationality, it’s easy to shrivel back and hide during uncertain times like a global pandemic. We should argue that dark times are opportunities for all to re-evaluate and reflect on what we are prideful for. No one is immune to this virus, which means we are all in the same predicament.

So how can we support one another and get through this pandemic together?

During our virtual discussion on Wednesday, June 10, PFSA shared what pride means, highlighted some organizations that are doing great things to promote equity and inclusion, and shared information on resources available.

Resources for Online Teaching Available

The Nicholson School has received resources for online teaching from the College of Sciences that can be found below.

They can also be found on the Nicholson Resource website, under 'Resources."

Face Masks/Coverings Required in Buildings

From the latest Return to Campus Operations Draft Plan:

Face coverings are required to be worn in all inside common spaces or when in close proximity to others.

If facilities staff, contractors, or vendors are seen without masks in the buildings, we are to report them to the work control center, 407-823-5223, with as much detail as possible (location, description, company name). All have been informed of the new requirement.

It will take some time to get used to the new requirements, but this extra effort is essential to preventing the spread of COVID-19. It is also now mandatory for UCF employees and can result in disciplinary action.

NSCM Building Usage — June 15-26

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media building on main campus will be used by the police department for training. This training will be in effect from June 16 through June 26 from 2 to 8 p.m.

There will be speakers in the hallway to simulate a fire alarm or other noises. There would also be blanks fired so that officers can actually get the audible clue of where they need to respond. There is no debris or projectiles that are associated with the blanks, just the noise and small puff of smoke.
