Filling the gap with weekend meals

Friends of Hardie Park are excited to announce that we are working with several local primary schools in the area to provide Free Weekend Hot Meals for families in need over the Christmas break. The initiative is being supported by local port giant DP World London Gateway allowing us to roll out the idea over the coming weeks.

Following on from our Free School Meals back in October half term we are piloting a scheme to fill the gap for families by offering a hot takeaway meal for children at weekends. We are encouraging local companies to come on board too, to tackle this issue as a community, not just for Christmas but into the New Year. By expanding the network of help we aim to develop a sustainable plan for 2021.

If you are a local business wanting to get involved by donating product or funds to help us facilitate and deliver the idea, we would love to have you on board. Tackling this issue as a community is the wider goal.

Thurrock Council have announced funding for weekday meals this week. We are offering to fill the gap!

Anyone can offer help to fund the scheme. If you would like to help out and 'Buy a Meal' this Christmas you can use PAYPAL to donate £2.50. The funds will be ring fenced for the Free Weekend Hot Meals initiative which will be extended further into the New Year.

Want to support the scheme and donate? Sign in to your Paypal account and send your donation to info@friendsofhardiepark.co.uk using reference HOT MEALS

Bike Sale Jumble success...

The Hardie Cycle Hub re-opened it's doors to the public this month following the recent lockdown. To kick start business and turn over some stock they held a Bike Sale and Jumble on the 6th December.

Many bike enthusiasts passed by for a mooch, the day also provided an opportunity for those who had enquired via social media about bikes ON SALE over lockdown to view, purchase and pick up.

Matt Hill, our cycle hub manager was caught on video being interviewed by Neil Speight of Thurrock Nub News talking about the purpose of the day and gave an insight to the hub's role in the community.

Loyalty stamp with a smile

We've recently revamped our customer loyalty cards and reverted back to a card format rather than the till system. This is the way YOU like it, it works well and as you know we like to please our customers. If you haven't picked one up yet, come in for that first hot drink and receive a stamp with a smile from the cafe staff and volunteers. Hope to see you soon.
