Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The USET Tribal Health Program Support department wants to bring your attention to a Dear Tribal Leader Letter regarding updates to the Indian Health Service (IHS) data modernization program and an opportunity for interested Tribal Nations to become directly involved in the collaborative planning for the new IHS enterprise electronic health record (EHR) solution.
As stated in the letter, one of the central principles of the IHS Health IT Modernization is to build and operate the new EHR solution with their partners, not for them. As the IHS approaches finalization of a contract award for the new IHS enterprise EHR solution, it is important to know which sites may wish to participate with the IHS on shared enterprise solution planning efforts. As discussed during the May 10 Tribal Consultation and Urban Confer session, the IHS invites Tribal Nations that are considering the new enterprise EHR as a viable option to complete the Statement of Interest to indicate their interest in participating in shared enterprise solution planning.
This non-binding Statement of Interest will help the IHS understand which Tribal Nations are interested in becoming part of the IHS enterprise EHR solution partnership, and asks for limited details about those organizations, such as facility size, current EHR utilization, and point(s) of contact.
The Statement of Interest may be submitted by e-mail to modernization@ihs.gov. There is no deadline for submitting the form. The IHS IT Modernization Program Management Office will reach out to Tribal Nations that provide the Statement of Interest to learn more about their facilities, services, and staffing that may need to be supported by the new EHR system. There will also be opportunities for subject matter experts from your Tribal Nations to provide individual input in their areas of expertise regarding the configurations and workflows that the new system should provide.
If you have questions or need technical assistance regarding data modernization, please do not hesitate to contact Bryan Hendrix, USET Quality Improvement Data Analyst, at bhendrix@usetinc.org.
