PROVIDING SOLUTIONS FOR ALL YOUR CYCLING NEEDS...

We are really excited to tell you all about the new Hardie Cycle Hub - 'Old Spokes Home'. A project enabling the park to help our community access affordable bikes. We are currently training a young person to learn a valuable skill and deliver the service. At the same time, educating and informing our users regarding safe, affordable cycle use, maintenance and travel.

Low cost refurbished bicycles are now available for purchase from as little as £35 for a child’s bike and from £65 for an adult’s bike. We also have a broad range of new and used parts/accessories for sale at low prices as well as bicycle servicing and maintenance at affordable rates.

Here's the process...

  • Community donates
  • The cycle hub checks and refurbs often replacing cables, pads and tyres.
  • Bikes are resold

Every bike produced is thoroughly assessed, fully serviced, which often involves a ground-up renovation. All worn perishable components are replaced and every bicycle independently checked by Cytech trained mechanic to ensure all bicycles sold meet our high expectations.

Up and running...

Our cycle hub welcomed some special visitors last month to mark the launch of the new bike project. Staff from ForwardMotion South Essex funders of the initiative came to see the hub in action with children from St Joseph's Primary School learning how to repair a puncture courtesy of apprentice Ross and his mentor Richard. The project has had a great response from the community with many  bikes having been donated and re-furbished by our new apprentice Ross already. If you have any bikes you no longer use and wish to donate them to the cycle hub the opening times for the project are above. Your donations will be gratefully received.

The project offers a range of services, re-furbished and new bikes, accessories and servicing. Pop in next time you are passing. Ross would love to talk to you about all things cycle related! Here's the brochure with full information of services available.

Christmas is coming...

If you are thinking of buying a bike? why not pop down to the cycle hub to check out the range we have. These bikes are all ready to go! You can also take advantage of the accessories offer we are running until Monday 23rd December.

Cytech Course starts in the new year!

Our enthusiastic apprentice Ross has been keeping busy at the park. He helped set up the workshop in the initial stages and met the project funders Forward Motion recently. Ross has demonstrated how to repair a puncture to local school children and put his skills to good use refurbishing the many bike donations received from the community.

Ross will be embarking on a Cytech training course in January working towards certification at Level Two.

Cytech is the internationally recognised training and accreditation scheme for bicycle technicians. The course delivers training and promotion of technical skills to the cycle trade and enthusiasts worldwide.

Ross is passionate about his apprenticeship but outside the world of work is an avid skateboarder and spends a lot of time on the Hardie Park skate park. Pop in and have a chat about bikes, skateboards, BMX or the weather. He enjoys company and hopes to see you soon!

Hub brought to life with Rebecca's artistic flair

So the bike hub idea was nurtured, the building delivered and fitted out in September/October. Since then our creative volunteer Rebecca Wilson has brought it to life with new logo, flyers, info cards and more. How exciting!

Fantastic work Rebecca! Thank you!

Grayers Graphics supports park project

Wowzer!  Look at this artwork! Thank you to Paul at Grayers Graphics for complimentary van wrapping and a really good deal on purchase of an ex-Grayers company van. It's a valuable asset for the park which will support the cycle hub alongside the other community initiatives the park is currently working on.
