"What I'm thankful for..."
I know, I know, it's cheesy and cliché, but honestly, it's the mindset I'm in these days. (Thanks in large part to my friend Terri… more on her below…so keep reading!)
Am I overwhelmed by thoughts of the upcoming holidays and year end?
Is my mind constantly thinking of ways to improve my business (aka Squirreling)?
Am I a bit stressed out, making sure I'm always giving my all to my clients and employees?
OF COURSE I'm still feeling all of those things, but choosing to have a grateful and positive mindset is allowing me to channel those feelings into productive ones.
A while ago, I started writing down my goals. I like to write a mix of my 'realistic' goals (think paying off debt) along with my 'dream' goals (think new master bath). Guess what? They're turning out to be the same! Having these written out to look back at has been so empowering and has pushed me to dream even bigger (think indoor pool).
When I take a moment to think about all of the things I've accomplished in my personal and professional life, I can't help but be grateful for all of those other feelings that propelled me to where I'm at now, and for all of the people that encouraged and educated me along the way.
Speaking of encouragement and education, you know that I’m a total nerd about business books… and my absolute favorite author is Mike Michalowicz (a la Profit First fame)… WELL… he recently endorsed my friend Matt Ward’s new book, The High Five Effect – How To Do Business With People Who Bring You Joy. Keep your eyes out for an upcoming blog about that… including some major thank yous to those incredible BBA clients who bring us So. Much. Joy.
So here I am to encourage you - be grateful for everything you've experienced, the good and the bad, and appreciate where it's gotten you. Think about how much you've achieved, where you want to go, and dream BIG.
