March 2022

All change for a couple of weeks...

Thank you for sharing our recent plea for more volunteers at Hardie Park, especially in the cafe. As you know we aim to open every day of the week which often proves a challenging task. With holidays and life in the mix we are short of fully trained volunteers over the next couple of weeks.

We have taken the tough decision to open for Pop-Up Community Food ONLY from 11-2 daily. (from Wed 30th March until Monday 18th April inclusive)

Unfortunately we are not in a position to staff the cafe.

Hardie Park Cafe will be CLOSED from Wednesday 30th March through until Easter Monday.

We will not have a till facility at this time so if you choose to donate at the pop-up please use cash.

Clubs however will continue as they will fall between the pop-up hours.  (Cribbage Monday from noon  / Craft Wednesday from 11am / Knit and Natter Friday 12-2 )

We plan to resume a normal service from Tuesday 19th April

Thank you so much for your continued support of the HARDIE PARK project.

Baristas in the making!

Following our shout out for new volunteers we have the pleasure of Alfie and Andi's company in the cafe. They are currently in training, learning valuable skills in the kitchen and mastering the coffee machine.

Volunteering at the park is not only great fun it enhances a young person's CV. These guys will be able to talk about their experiences at interview and demonstrate giving something back to their community when looking for future employment. If you know someone who would like to get involved please ask them to register interest on our volunteer link in the first instance. www.friendsofhardiepark.co.uk/volunteer/

Not all heroes wear capes!

Thanks to the Stanford-Le-Hope,Corringham & Tilbury Community First Responders Group who delivered Defibrillator/CPR Training recently for 11 of our volunteers. Everyone who took part agreed how beneficial the sessions were. Our volunteers learnt about lots of different scenarios that they could potentially have to deal with in the community. Well done Team Hardie pictured with their certificates!

Home from home...

Our amazing team of gardeners have been kept busy, mostly on a Friday digging, planting, weeding and this month, building bird boxes for the parks wildlife. Be sure to let us know if you see a blue tit taking up residence when passing through the park.

Our gardeners are super group of volunteers doing what they love for the benefit of our community. Thank you!

Fantastic feedback!

A little bit of sunshine, perfect scenario for breakfast on the decking. The Batty family visited recently, stayed for a while soaking up the sunshine and appreciating the view. They enjoyed it so much they posted on our facebook page. You know we love your feedback!

The Batty's will be back!
