The region's leading geospatial event, Geo Connect Asia (GCA), wrapped up a triumphant two-day run at the Sands Expo (Marina Bay Sands) in Singapore on 6 and 7 March 2024. Held alongside other industry showcases like Drones & Uncrewed Asia and Digital Construction Asia, GCA 2024 attracted over 2,785 attendees from 52 countries, solidifying its position as a premier platform for the geospatial, positioning, and remote sensing industries.
In the opening speech, Guest of Honour Minister Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law stressed the importance of events like Geo Connect Asia. He said these platforms are crucial for sharing knowledge, building experience, and fostering a strong community. These elements are all essential for productive collaborations. Minister Edwin Tong also acknowledged the increasing trend of countries working together to share knowledge and best practices, with the aim of mutual improvement and learning, expressing his anticipation for even more collaborations to come out of Geo Connect Asia.
GS1 Singapore is proud to be a supporting partner of Geo Connect Asia 2024. Our booth highlighted the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM) with enhanced identification using GS1 standards and unique identifiers like Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs).
Imagine this: Every building material has its own barcode, just like a product at the store. These GTINs act as a clear and scannable ID, providing instant access to crucial information throughout the supply chain.
With a quick scan, you can see details like material properties, certifications, and even sustainability data. These GTINs can be encoded into convenient barcodes or RFID tags for effortless access.
