Save the Date: Florida State University to host third annual Discovery Days Oct. 18–25

Florida State University’s Office of Research will host the third annual FSU Discovery Days, a weeklong celebration of research, creativity and innovation, from Oct. 18–25. With more than 25 events throughout the week, Discovery Days has something for everyone — from “Shark Tank”-style business pitch competitions to kid-friendly physics and art projects to lectures highlighting clinical research breakthroughs in medicine. Read more ...

FSU geography researchers join national AI effort to advance wildfire forecasting

Two Florida State University Department of Geography researchers, Liling Chang and Ziqi Li, have received support from the NAIRR Pilot Start-up program and NVIDIA Academic Grant Program to develop a predictive model to forecast fire frequency and severity in California. Predicting when and where fires will occur helps fire management organizations reduce catastrophic events and understand the impact of fire management on various ecosystems. Read more ...

FSU signs MOU with Kyungpook National University to foster international collaborations, research and learning

FSU welcomed the president of Kyungpook National University and several other KNU administrators on-campus last month to discuss areas of collaboration while signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two universities. The delegation met with FSU President Richard McCullough and Provost James Clark to discuss shared goals and envision new opportunities for international collaborations and global research between the two universities. Read more ...
