This week’s authors are Kathryn Shay and Kay Lyons.

Kathryn sent me two photos. The first was the model for Rosie, the therapy dog in her story, and second is Hattie, her writing companion of twelve years.

1. Rosie, the therapy dog in “Teacher’s Pet” is named for after a good friend’s puppy. Huxley, Noah’s pup, and is exactly like him, is one of mine.
2. I love writing school stories, and the classroom scenes are accurate.
3. My little Yorkie, Hattie, has been with me for twelve years. She sits at my feet or jumps up onto the recliner where I write with a laptop. If she wants to be cuddled, she nudges the computer until I have to stop and pull her on my lap. She’s a beautiful part of my life.

One of my favorite parts of following my friend Kay Lyons on Facebook is seeing photos of her loyal companion dog, Harley. Look at this face. Does that welcoming look not say: LOVE?!

THE MATCHMAKER’S SECRET by Kay Lyons

1. The idea for THE MATCHMAKER’S SECRET came about when Kay attended a singles gathering discussing Dating in the 21st Century while researching a setting for her Seaside Sisters Series.
2. The talk was given by a professional matchmaker Kay later interviewed for her Make Me A Match Series.
3. Kay’s fictional town of Carolina Cove is loosely based on one of Kay’s favorite beaches—Kure Beach, NC—and set in the Wilmington, NC area. Carolina Cove is the setting for the SEASIDE SISTERS series as well as the MAKE ME A MATCH series.

I’m so happy to say Paul and I are just about done with our part of the interior work on Jon-Paul’s new home. We’re waiting on two small components—lost in holiday mail and online shopping, I fear—to complete the installation of the microwave and oven, but that’s it. (I think.)
