Twitter to all users – change your password now!

The social media giant Twitter recently identified a bug that stored passwords in plain text — without protecting them with any sort of encryption technology that would mask a Twitter user’s true password. Twitter asked all 300+ million users to reset their passwords, citing the exposure of user passwords via this bug. It says it has fixed the bug and that so far its investigation hasn’t turned up any signs of a breach or that anyone misused the information.

Man hacked 200 firms & sold data of millions of users on dark web.

The 26-year-old hacker named Grant West, hacked over 200 companies around the world including Apple, Asda, Uber, Just Eat, Groupon, Nectar etc. and stole their user data before selling them on the now seized AlphaBay market on the Dark Web. West used his girlfriends’ laptop to carry out a phishing scam by sending malicious emails tricking its users into falling for a fake survey, and now has been arrested by British police.

As risk of cyber attack keeps growing, so does the compelling need to take insurance cover against their cyber risks. Find out here the 101 of cyber insurance.

What small business owners should know about GDPR and why

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into force May 25, 2018. A U.S. based small business owner may think that the GDPR only applies to large, global companies that conduct business overseas, not for companies with fewer than 250 employees. In fact,  GDPR is one of the largest and most far-reaching global data privacy laws—and all businesses need to be GDPR-compliant with processes and documents in place and will apply to all companies handling the consumer data of citizens within the European Union (EU), no matter the size, industry or country of origin of the business.  Learn here what small-business owners need to know about GDPR and why it matters.
