1.What is your definition of women empowerment? Women empowerment to me means enhancing the strength of women and girls socially, economically and emotionally with the primary objective of closing the gender gap and overall improving their well-being. 2.What motivated you to get involved in being inspirational for change? As a woman I analysed the various challenges that my fellow women face in trying to improve their well-being, economic and social status. The playing field is not level and women have had to struggle to attain even the slightest recognition. This passion to break the cycle and make female voices heard in society has been my greatest motivation and inspiration to be a change driver and re-align the socio-economic landscape to accommodate the unique value that women can bring. I have not regretted being part of this movement so far and will continue to advocate for women and girl child empowerment. What also inspires me is the need to make a difference in the future of the girl child so that they do not have to face the same challenges we faced in scaling up the ladder and the fact that girls are prone to several aspects of abuse, the onus is on us to ensure that they do not fall victim to negative situations e.g. sexual abuse, rape, human trafficking , prostitution, early marriages etc. therefore I am inspired to advocate against these and ensure that our young women do not fall victim to such and are aware of the risks and how to mitigate them. Leadership Tip #10: Components Of A Visionary Leadership Herminia Ibarra, professor of organizational behavior at INSEAD, counted ten critical components of a visionary leadership in one of her articles for the Harvard Business Review: 1. Envisioning 2. Designing and aligning 3. Outside orientation 4. Emotional intelligence 5. Empowering 6. Rewarding and feedback 7. Global mind-set 8. Energizing 9. Team building 10. Tenacity A visionary leader must initially design a thoroughly constructed vision, which will connect all the components in whole. This will align the values of employees with the values of the organization. The leader themself must firmly believe in these values, because only then will they be able to follow them, while attracting customers, suppliers and the local or the wider community to their vision. In embodying these values they must be like a beacon that will illuminate the path for their employees on their way to the organization's objectives and fill them with energy to achieve planned results. leader must raise awareness in their employees that there is a reality outside the organization, with which it is necessary to operate on the basis of emotional intelligence, that is, with respect and understanding. Leader should therefore empower employees to be able to act decisively and expand the values of the organization in to the surrounding area and, ultimately, the world. All the while the employees should also look inwardly, to the organization and the staff, where they need to build collaborative teams. All employees can help with this, but the leader sets the example and can, with appropriate awards and their own constructive feedback, support collaborative atmosphere and constructive conflicts.
