...but sharing the love has been a challenge. That's about to change. First, a bit of history.
I never intended to make an escape room game, much less a series of games. But about 2 years ago I heard an interview with designer Jon Chaffer where he mentioned what would become The Kringle Caper.
Every year Jon challenges himself to create a legit 18-card game for Christmas, and that year he challenged himself with an escape room. What you need to know is that Jon is uniquely clever. Having played games with him, his mind works just slightly different than the rest of us, and in the best of ways. (Take Stroop for example!) Anyway, when Jon talks, I listen, and this was intriguing to me.
After some conversation, I convinced Jon to let me publish The Kringle Caper, and then after some more conversation, we agreed that we could keep going with an entire line of games.
AND I AM SO PROUD OF WHAT THESE GAMES HAVE BECOME!
With the ever-increasing popularity of escape room games, I'd be a fool not to look at next steps, which is to get them into distribution, but our 18-card form factor has its challenges. Because it's so small, it is hard to notice among the visual clutter of your FLGS, and it's pretty easy for them to...ahem...walk away.
At GAMA Expo I talked to many a retailer about Holiday Hijinks, and it became clear that I needed to provide a point of sale (POS) display. I was delighted this morning to find this work in progress in my e-mail.
