Honour those who served and sacrificed at a Remembrance Event
Communities across Bristol will come together to honour those who served and sacrificed during a service at the Cenotaph in on 9 November, Remembrance Sunday.
At around 10.25, HMS Flying Fox will lead military units, cadets, veterans and related groups from College Green to the Cenotaph on Colston Avenue. The national 2-minute silence will take place at 11am, followed by wreath laying and a short service. Members of the public are invited to attend and reflect on those who have died in world wars and other conflicts.
Councillor Henry Michallat, Lord Mayor of Bristol, said: “We hope that the residents of Bristol will join us to honour and reflect on those who gave their lives defending our freedoms.
“It is important to take time to remember the lives lost during conflict. As a city, we come together in unity to reflect on those who have sacrificed their lives for peace”
To support the event, there will be multiple road closures and diversions in the city centre, which will start at 5am and finish at 1pm. Disruption should be expected for most of the day, so please plan your journeys accordingly. A towaway scheme will be in place during this period. There will be pedestrian and emergency access to all properties throughout the event.
Affected roads include Anchor Road, Baldwin Street, Broad Quay, Canons Road, Christmas Street, Colson Avenue, Colston Street, College Green, Denmark Street, Lewins Mead, Marsh Street, Nelson Street, Park Street, Quay Street, Queen Charlotte Street, Rupert Street, St Augustines Parade, Unity Street, Small Street, St Stephens Avenue and Quay Street.

Heartbeat
Heartbeat is a new music magazine from the boundary-pushing US publisher, Broccoli. It’s a very handsome volume and its take on the genre is, as you might expect, a little different. Heartbeat explores how the music we listen to makes us feel through genre-defying stories and features that weave around nature and art, and into the past and the future. The tales in this first volume tackle various subjects from mechanical birdsong, hearing a tree fall in a forest, to a personal history of hearing aids and singing gibbons. Artists featured include Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Fairuz, Horsegirl, The Beths, Patrick Haggerty and RAMM:ΣLL:ZΣΣ.

Half a million reasons to raise a glass: Bristol Beer Factory raises over half a million for Bristol communities
Bristol Beer Factory (BBF) has raised a staggering £625,000 for community groups across the city through its Brewed to Give initiative, proving that pints really can power change!
Launched in May 2023, the initiative pledges 2% from every brewery sale to Bristol charities and local causes, but it’s about more than just signing a cheque. BBF donates cost-price beer, bar equipment, event space and hands-on support, helping groups raise funds for themselves, from street festivals to school raffles. In doing so, Brewed to Giveflips beer into real cash, maximising the impact of its support. 100% of the funds raised are kept by the community, for the community.
The initiative recently won the SIBA Community Engagement Award, and with the new BS3 brewery now open, Bristol Beer Factory highlights this is just the start!
