Jane
Austen's Pride and Prejudice opens this weekend! Don't miss
out!
Adapted
from the novel by Jane Austen, this version is not exactly as your grandmother
remembers it! Although it remains true to original concepts and characters,
this version is fast-paced, frolicsome and fun. It pushes Austen's irony and
wit even further while still exploring the period romance, the absurdities of
social expectations and dysfunctional family antics, all while Lizzy Bennet and
Mr Darcy try to find the perfect match.
Even
those who haven't had the pleasure of reading the original, will fall in love
with the story and the characters (played by both new and seasoned actors).
There are plenty of belly-laughing moments but teary-eyed ones too. Bring a
tissue!
"Hamill...has
a gift for condensing three-volume novels into galloping two-act plays. Her
screwball PRIDE AND PREJUDICE...is as frolicsome as her earlier efforts. It
hasn't met a rib it can't tickle." - The New York Times
"The
ever-ingenious Hamill has given us something completely and delightfully
different, a smallish-cast period-dress PRIDE AND PREJUDICE...adapted with
fizzy, festive freedom...slapstick...and barely-controlled chaos." - The Wall Street Journal
Pride
and Prejudice runs
August 26th - September 11th.
