Super charge your fundraising in 2021 - Introducing Fantastic Fanatics

Welcome to our final newsletter of 2020,

What a year it has been. However, for all the doom and gloom, it's time to look ahead to 2021 and we're delighted to tell you about our partnership with Fantastic Fanatics to support your fundraising in the year ahead.

Fantastic Fanatics, which was developed in Scotland, enables sports clubs to generate funds when their own members shop, eat out, book hotels and lots more.

Clubs simply just sign up to Fantastic Fanatics online, upload verifications documents, then ask their club members to sign up as fans, and choose their club to support. Members securely register their everyday debit and credit cards, and any purchases they make online at many major retailers including Boots, Foot Locker, BT, John Lewis, Currys PC World, Sky, Tui, Dunelm, JD Sports and hundreds of others will raise funds for their chosen club.

As well as shopping online, registered fans can raise funds for their clubs by shopping in-store however, at present this is only available in the North East of Scotland. In the near future there will be in-store options across all of Scotland, further increasing the flexibility and choice of where and how club members can contribute to the clubs they love.

The commission paid to sports clubs is automatically taken at the till-point, so the fan does not need to do anything except present their securely linked everyday debit or credit card as normal.

What's more, through our partnership with Fantastic Fanatics, clubs signing up will get an extra 10% income during their first 6 months on the platform when they select 'Club Development Scotland' as their governing body.

You can hear more about Fantastic Fanatics and our partnership with them in this podcast we recorded with Barry Munro, the platform's co-founder and Operations Director.

Responsiball Podcast

In this podcast, we spoke to Mia Salvemini of Responsiball about their rankings and how SPFL clubs fared in the 2020 edition of it.

We discussed how clubs in the SPFL Premiership ranked in terms of governance, environment and community compared to other major leagues around Europe and beyond.

Mia highlighted examples of good practice in the fields of environmental work, governance and community outreach from Scotland including nice mentions for Hibs, St Mirren and Motherwell FC.

You can check out the Responsiball 2020 rankings here and you can follow them on Twitter here.

Grant Funding

Clubs can look to raise significant capital for funding through their own independent fundraising methods but often there are funders who support community projects and may make suitable funding partners for your project.

Here are some of the newest funds your club may be eligible to apply for.

Measuring your club's social value and where to start

Measuring the social impact of your sports club is important for a number of reasons, such as:

• It can help you understand where the club can improve in its performance to maximise community benefit

• It can help to articulate the value of the club to important stakeholders like funders and local community groups, leading to a range of benefits such as better partnerships, increased investment and more volunteers

• It can help retain focus on a range of objectives rather than simply judging the club on the success of the senior men’s team (for example)
