On April 28, we gathered at ceremonies around New Brunswick to honour and remember those who have lost their lives, been injured or suffered illness due to work-related incidents. Thank you to everyone who attended a Day of Mourning service. Your presence is a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to creating safer workplaces for all.

The WorkSafeNB Safety Star Awards recognize and honour individuals and organizations who are helping make New Brunswick the safest place to work. Safety leadership exists across our province, and these awards provide an opportunity to highlight those who make a meaningful difference in workplace health and safety.

A faster way to start your claim

To reduce delays and ensure injured workers receive their benefits as quickly as possible, WorkSafeNB has adopted the electronic Worker’s Application for Compensation Benefits and Employer’s Report of Injury or Illness (E67) as the preferred method for submitting claims.

Submitting claims online helps ensure complete and accurate information is received sooner, supporting timely adjudication and faster access to benefit payments for injured workers.

Safety and Health Week 2026: Connecting safety across work and daily life

Safety and Health Week is an opportunity to highlight the importance of preventing injuries and illnesses at work, at home and in our communities. Working safely helps ensure we can return home to the people who matter most.

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety is offering virtual events throughout the week to learn more about improving workplace safety.

Safety and Health Week highlights Step Up Your Safety e-courses

During Safety and Health Week, WorkSafeNB is recognizing the power of education in shaping safe behaviours for youth at work. Launched in September, WorkSafeNB’s partnership with safety advocate Candace Carnahan brings the Step Up Your Safety e-learning program to New Brunswick high school students. The program helps students understand how physical and psychological safety connects to their everyday lives and future workplaces.

Celebrating Health and Safety with Junior Achievement

Tim Petersen, President and CEO of WorkSafeNB, had the pleasure of presenting this year’s Health & Safety Award at the Junior Achievement Dinner in Fredericton.

Congratulations to Yummy Gummies for their outstanding leadership in workplace health and safety. These young entrepreneurs contributed to making New Brunswick the safest place to work by promoting awareness, reducing risks and putting employee well-being first.

Supporting young people as they enter the workforce helps strengthen safety culture for the future. Resources like WorkSafeNB’s Young Worker Safety Course provide youth with practical knowledge and skills to work safely and contribute to healthy workplaces from day one.

WorkSafeNB employees mark Earth Day with volunteer clean-ups across the province

Employees of WorkSafeNB rolled up their sleeves in honour of Earth Day 2026.

Nearly 200 staff members participated in community clean-ups across the province, using the organization’s annual paid volunteer day.

Developing and Maintaining a Hearing Conservation Code of Practice

This guideline supports New Brunswick employers in developing and maintaining a workplace-specific Hearing Conservation Code of Practice. Exposure to excessive noise can lead to temporary or permanent hearing loss and is a significant occupational hazard. A Code of Practice is required when noise exposure in a work area exceeds the limits outlined in section 30 of General Regulation 91-191.

This checklist outlines the key requirements of a hearing conservation program to help employers identify, assess and control workplace noise hazards. It covers noise assessments, controls, hearing protection, audiometric testing, training, record keeping and ongoing program review to prevent noise induced hearing loss and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Great questions! These are the kinds of practical considerations that come up often when setting up first aid facilities.

New Brunswick’s First Aid Regulation sets out requirements for first aid rooms, but it also allows flexibility so employers can design spaces that work for their specific workplace.
