A belated Happy New Year to you all. 

Now that we are into 2021, it very much feels like the new year has begun in much the same way that the old year ended. The January Blues is a well known state of mind that can affect us all, and often we are bombarded this time of year by motivational messages to get fit, eat better and improve your life. We decided that we would offer a different way to beat the blues. As we are all confined to our homes throughout January and possibly longer, we wanted to bring you some inspiration - stories of individuals who have excelled in their field, often striving against the odds to do so. We have some great books that we have bought together here that we hope will draw you in, take you on a journey and ultimately get us through to Spring with the hope of a better year to come.

A Surprise Christmas Gift

We were contacted at the end of last year by a lady named Alison Larkin. Alison is a comedienne, an award-winning audiobook narrator and founder of Alison Larkin Presents, an audiobook company based in the USA. Between December 2020 and June 2021, for any audiobook purchased directly from her website, they will donate a free audiobook recording to Calibre. So far we have 7 exciting new titles making their way into our collection for members to borrow, details of which can be found here. We are extremely grateful to Alison for this very kind gesture, and will keep you updated of any further books we receive from Alison Larkin Presents as part of her promotion.
