University Distinguished Professor Anil Jain is ranked #1 for Computer Science & Electronics

University Distinguished Professor Anil Jain is ranked #1 in the world in the 2020 edition of Top Scientists Ranking for Computer Science & Electronics, according to Guide2Research. His H-index is 188. The ranking is based on a detailed examination of more than 6,000 profiles on Google Scholar and DBLP, a computer science bibliography website.

MSU to develop management tool for Chesapeake Bay watershed

Two Engineering researchers will use a $1 million EPA grant to develop management tools for the Chesapeake Bay watershed – that helps protect 75 percent of the drinking water for 18 million residents in six states and Washington, D.C. Co-leads on the project are Kalyanmoy Deb, the Koenig Endowed Chair and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Pouyan Nejadhashemi, an MSU Foundation Professor of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering.


Biomedical engineering professor explores ‘smart prosthetics’

The curiosity of biomedical engineering professor Galit Pelled is leading to a better understanding of the ‘smart prosthetics’ of the dexterous octopus. She’ll use a $2.35 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research that may help humans regain the use of their arms and hands.

Savolainen wins ITE Transportation Safety Council honor

Peter Savolainen will be awarded the Institute of Transportation Engineers 2020 Transportation Safety Council Edmund R. Ricker Individual Award in August. He is an MSU Foundation Professor and associate chair of graduate studies in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

2019 PhD alumni and faculty members, Yue Qi and Philip Eisenlohr contribute to highly recognized paper

Research tied to the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science is one of the most highly downloaded battery papers among recently published papers in the Journal of The Electrochemical Society. The paper, "Evaluation of The Electrochemo-Mechanically Induced Stress in All-Solid-State Li-Ion Batteries," has been downloaded almost 1,500 times since May 18. Collaborators include 2019 PhD alumni and faculty members, Yue Qi and Philip Eisenlohr.

2 CFR 200 Updates

The federal guidelines for grants and cooperative agreements in 2 CFR 200, commonly referred to as Uniform Guidance, are in the process of being revised and updated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Sponsored Programs Administration has worked with national organizations such as the Council of Governmental Relations to review the proposed changes and provide feedback to the federal government by the deadline.
