The Killer was 177 pages of a very entertaining read. It's originally French, so everything about it is European in flavor, pacing and style. It plays out very much like a foreign thriller.
The titular character is one unnamed Assassin who goes out on job after job, performing his 'hits' on named targets for lots of money.
Early on Matz uses his frequent noir-ish musings to string together scenes happening in and out of time. The Killer equates his existence to a reptile, lying in wait, always being careful, not getting too irrational.
