These past 10 months have been, well, quite a ride. Everyone can use some extra TLC during this time… and that includes your car too! Believe it or not, a well-maintained car is more fuel-efficient, produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions, is more reliable, and is safer. Be sure to keep your car well-tuned, follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule, and use the recommended grade of motor oil. Also check and replace your vehicle’s air filter regularly (the recommendation is to check once a month) and inflate tires properly (even slightly under or overinflated tires waste fuel).
By giving a little extra care to your car, you can save an estimated 800 lbs of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to 40 gallons of gasoline! Next time you cringe when you receive the bill for that oil change, remind yourself that you will be making your money back by saving money on gas, which also helps the environment. So as you can see there are many reasons to give yourself, your car, and the earth a little extra love and care.
We will cover more tips about how to drive more efficiently in the future, but for now check out these simple tips from Consumer Reports.
