Three hot ink management trends converters need to know about
Dear ,
For GSE, Labelexpo Europe was a valuable opportunity to listen to converters visiting our booth and understand their challenges. Our discussions with them revealed three industry trends driving the need for professionalized ink logistics – as explained in our new InkConnection blog.
Sustainability: the number one concern First, converters must demonstrate their processes and products are sustainable, as a precondition for doing business with brand owners. Suppliers must be transparent about their reduced social and environmental impact, using benchmarks like CO2 footprint.
Controlling and tracing ‘expanded gamut’ ink inventories Second, there is growing use of non-blended inks, varnishes and coatings - including for process colour and ‘expanded gamut’ printing. All these must be managed professionally, to allow traceability and to keep administrative costs down.
Software integration for smooth workflow Finally, as processes like colour matching, inventory control and resource planning become automated, data exchange between different software systems is needed for a smooth workflow.
Why ink logistics is key to performance In all these areas, automated ink logistics plays a vital role: demonstrably reducing ink consumption, and thus environmental impact – measured, per job, with software. Single-ingredient dispensing manages all inks under one roof, while Ink manager software can ‘integrate’ with MIS, cloud and colour formulation software - accelerating processes, for responsive manufacturing.
