Shaun the Sheep turns 30: Can Ewe Knit it?
It may not feel like knitting weather, but a new campaign celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shaun the Sheep is calling on our city's creative community for a good cause.
He’s a global superstar with roots right here in Bristol, and now Shaun the Sheep is turning 30. To celebrate, Aardman is rallying fans around the world – and especially at home – for a good cause, launching ‘Can Ewe Knit It?’.
From Bedminster to Bishopston, the city’s vibrant creative and maker communities are invited to take part in this new campaign designed to spread joy – and warmth – to those who need it most.
Aardman has teamed up with British Wool, Campaign for Wool and Craft Forward to unveil Can Ewe Knit It? and is asking Shaun’s Bristol fans and all wool enthusiasts to knit, weave or crochet a Shaun-inspired blanket square. A public event hosted by not-for-profit Craft Forward in October will 'ewe-nite' every woolly wonder to create Shaun the Sheep inspired blankets. Each blanket made will be given to an unhoused person, bringing warmth to some of the most vulnerable in society.
Download a square pattern (or make your own) by visiting the website.
(Use real wool where possible to support UK sheep farmers; post your 20x20cm square to Craft Forward, 3 Space International House, 6 Canterbury Crescent, London, SW9 7QD by 30 September 2025; and share your creations using #CanEweKnitIt and tag @aardmananimations)

Rolex Perpetual 1908
Elegant, classic and decidedly contemporary, the Perpetual 1908 immortalizes Rolex’s age-long daring spirit.
Heir to the brand’s aesthetic heritage as much as to its numerous innovations in watchmaking, the watch perpetuates the brand’s pursuit of excellence. This fine example of Rolex’s watchmaking prowess, with Superlative Chronometer certification, brings classicism to the future.
The 1908 is by no means a nostalgic timepiece. While the slenderness of its 18 ct gold or 950 platinum case borrows from the standards of the early years of Rolex, the performance of its calibre 7140 meets the stringent norms of the Superlative Chronometer certification.
The work carried out on the design of the 1908 reveals Rolex’s mastery of craftsmanship. Encompassed by its domed and fluted bezel, the sleek dial draws inspiration from the original Oyster Perpetual watches of 1931. Every detail, from the hands to the hour markers, is adjusted to a hundredth of a millimetre. Like a living landscape, the transparent case back reveals the delicate finishes of calibre 7140, including the Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration and the openwork oscillating weight in gold.

Cinema du Look
Cinema du Look is a new biannual journal subtitled ‘A Magazine About Stylish Cinema’, which makes it sound a little shallow and be fair it may not interest people with a more academic take on the function of film, but it didn’t stop me enjoying this second issue. Cinema du Look aims to be a bridge between the worlds of film and style, exploring the parallels and differences of these two industries. It weaves together interviews and prose from art directors, film directors, costume designers, writers, photographers, even parfumiers and many other creatives who collectively shape our cultural landscape through cinema.

A characterful end terraced family home in the vibrant area of Montpelier
4 Bedrooms | 1 Bathroom | 2 Receptions | Guide Price: £700,000
Offered for sale by Ocean Estate Agents
The former home of actor Cary Grant - benefiting from accommodation over four floors. This property really does offer flexible space to either a growing family, young couples wanting to live in a vibrant area, individuals looking to work from home, or maybe looking to sublet rooms. Internally there is a wealth of character, including features, as large sash windows, feature fireplaces, polished wooden floorboards, panelled internal doors and much more.
Internally, the hall floor is an open plan
kitchen/dining/living room, making up the entirety of this level. Stairs lead
down to the lower ground floor, where an occasional bedroom and further space
are found. French doors lead out to a courtyard from the bedroom. This floor
would benefit from further investment and then offering a variety of uses.
Back upstairs to the hall
floor and stairs lead up to the first floor, where a full-width bedroom I found
at the front and a large bathroom to the rear. Stairs again lead up to the 2nd
and top floor, where two further generous double bedrooms are found, with the
master including an ensuite shower room.
The rear garden is a great size for this central location. It is already a great garden, but it could also benefit from further planning to make even more of this attractive green space.
Picton Street is a great place to live as it has real community feel, whilst being easily accessible to many amenities.
