It’s no secret; the BBC’s flagship soap ‘EastEnders’ was constructed on the very same spot as Auf Wiedersehen’ Pets ‘BECO Building Site’ on a small backlot plot at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire, England (check out www.becobuilding.site for more info).

Following filming the 13^th final explosive episode of Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Series 1; ‘When the Boat Goes Out’ – also written by Stan Hey – the film set was flattened to make way for a brand new out-door film set that would become the focal point for the BBC’s longest running East-End soap.

Due to the marvels of technology over recent years, a replica EastEnders film set is currently nearing completion to meet the demands of HD television meaning the original set will once again be reduced to rubble.

In order to document the long running history of this magical plot of land, team member Andy Patrick has transposed ‘Albert Square’ over the former ‘BECO Building Site’ giving fans a hands-on interactive aerial comparison of both iconic film sets!

Toggle between aerial plans to compare each film set and for the first time ever, discover the precise location of ‘Hut B’ in relation to Albert Square!
