Chapter One
“Labor Day weekend. Great for the bank account, sucks with the crowds. And could it have been more humid?” Jake had spent most of the past 10 hours inside his Fire Force costume. Today he patrolled New Brighton, the E-Force part of WonderWorld, fought crime every 33 minutes with another member of the E-Force team, and posed for a lot of selfies.
“I don’t think you’ve ever taken so many pictures in a single day.” Andrew, his chaperon, walked next to him as they entered the staff only area.
“So it wasn’t just my imagination then.”
“Nope. Hell, I’m surprised no one tried to get one when you were taking care of the bad guys.” Andrew deepened his voice. “Hold up, guys, can I just get a quick one with you both before you take him away?”
Jake rolled his eyes. “If that happens tomorrow, it’s on you for putting it out there.”
They laughed as Andrew stepped behind Jake. “Let’s get you out of this.”
Andrew opened the Velcro at the back of the suit and slid the zipper from the neckline down to the waist.
“You’re free.”
Jake sighed in relief as the cool breeze hit his skin. “Thanks, Andrew. Catch you tomorrow.”
“Later.”
Andrew headed down the hall as Jake went into the E-Force locker room. He tossed his goggles on the bench in front of his locker and his eyes adjusted to seeing the world without a tinge of orange.
On the way to the water cooler, he pulled at the sleeves of the suit, getting his arms out. He let the top half of the suit fold over at the waist. It made it a little harder to walk, but it was worth it to have his torso free.
The mostly black outfit nearly cooked him on days like this. He loved wearing it, though. Anything to turn into a superhero for the day.
He grabbed a small cup from the dispenser and filled it with icy cold water and drank it down. Even though he had water breaks every twenty minutes, it wasn’t enough on a day like this. He drew another cup and poured it over his head, letting it run down his face and chest. The water felt amazing. It was time for a super cold shower to quench the heat that had built up.
The water turned on in the showers, and with it came Tyler’s familiar humming. Jake filled the cup again and drank as he headed to the shower entrance. Tyler, working as Ice Force, had it good because he’d been in the Lair all day. He processed the bad guys and gave tours in cool comfort.
“Tyler!” Jake shouted as he turned the corner and stood just inside the open space that had four open shower stalls. “Lucky you, staying inside today. Whoa! Sorry, man.” Jake caught Tyler... [Edited for the newsletter].
“Shit. Give a guy a warning.” Tyler grinned at Jake with no embarrassment.
Jake’s gaze lingered on Tyler’s tall, fair-skinned body. His red hair stood out against his skin, and his buzz cut revealed the nape of his neck, which Jake knew was an area Tyler loved having peppered with kisses.
Tyler and Jake had been an item for a month a year ago when they started working at WonderWorld’s E-Force attraction, but they quickly discovered they were better suited to being good friends than boyfriends. Even now, that sometimes meant friends with benefits if neither of them were seeing anyone.
“You might as well get in here and help me out now that you know I’m horned up.” Tyler raised his eyebrows in question as he shook his cock in Jake’s direction.
“I’ll take you up on that invitation.”
Jake’s grew stiff in his costume, and it became uncomfortable fast. The suit’s underwear design kept private bits hidden at all costs. If you got the least bit aroused, it could be quite painful. Park visitors were never the wiser, but the E-Force team understood why some team members looked pained from time to time.
“Gimmie a second to get out of this.”
Back at his locker, Jake peeled out of the Fire Force get up. He tossed the suit into the hamper and placed the boots on the rack to be cleaned. From another shelf, he grabbed a towel and headed back to the showers.
“I never get tired of seeing you hard,” Tyler said.
Jake hummed appreciatively. His eyes didn’t leave Tyler, even as he hung his towel on a hook at one side of the stall.
“What’s got you so worked up today?”
“This hunky guy was in the Lair. No one seemed to be with him. Maybe just a solo tourist or a random E-Force geek. He was hot, though. Muscular arms like you wouldn’t believe. His gaze kept landing on me and Martina. We couldn’t decide if he was flirting or just really into being in the Lair. The last hour has been murder. I swear if I hadn’t been in character, I would’ve asked for a number.”
“Let me take care of that for you.” Jake dropped to his knees.
Tyler moaned. “Any idea how long we have?”
“Five minutes, maybe.”

The door to the locker room squeaked.
“Shit.” Jake moved to the stall next to Tyler and quickly stepped under a showerhead to rinse.
“Thanks for that,” Tyler whispered. “I owe you one.”
“Hey boys.” Henry, who played Thunder Force, walked in with a towel around his waist.
“Hey.” Jake turned and offered a wave.
“There is nothing worse than exit gate duty,” Henry said from his stall across from Jake. “I swear everyone left in slow.”
“Ugh. I’ve got to do that tomorrow.” Tyler stepped out of his stall, drying his hair. “I’m going to go see what’s up at The Canteen. You guys want to join?”
“I’m in.” Jake was eager to see what food was leftover because it would be better than anything he had at home.
Tyler shot him a smile.
“No, thanks,” Henry said. “I’m wiped.”
“Alright. Jake, I’ll see you over there.”
“Two minutes. I’ll be quick.” Jake soaped up and scrubbed his hair as Tyler walked by, giving him a thumbs up.
