Do you enjoy Bordeaux wines but need some variety in your life? If not, do you need a gift for someone who does? This crated selection of 2022 vintage "Gold Medal Winners" features 6 different small Chateaus from 6 different parts of the Bordeaux region, each with their own characteristics. What they do have in common is they are all blends of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. These wines would sell separately for around $15 each but in this unique package, the set can be had for less than $12 per bottle. Given the success of these in the past and the uncertain future regarding the pricing of European wines, I brought in a good quantity, maybe too many, but we will see. These include a description sheet similar to what is provided with our regular sixpacks but I only received a paper copy and was too lazy to manually re-type them.

Torre Raone "Raone Rosso" Colline Pescaresi IGT 

Colline Pescaresi IGT is one of several IGT titles used in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. This certified organic red is a blend of 60% Montepulciano with the addition of Bordeaux varieties 25% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Its bold structure, traditional wine making methods, and oak cellaring made it old-school "age-worthy". This wine was literally lost in a wholesaler warehouse and being a 2011 vintage, the hard work of being patient while waiting for it to blossom to full maturity has already taken place. Pre-Tariff Pricing Still Holding On Our Best Sellers

Chateau La Castillonne Red, our best selling wooden crate Bordeaux of all time, has a sibling. The red has been known for its consistent quality year in an year out. It is a classic 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that has crowd-pleasing brambly fruit notes, a dryness that lends it self well to pairing with a variety of foods without over powering them, and finishes with firm but gentle tannins.

Chateau La Castillonne White, says “Sauvignon Blanc” on the label but it likely also includes a small amount of Semillon, another important grape from the Bordeaux region responsible for rounding the edges and softening the citrus notes of the predominant grape, giving the resulting wine a luscious structure and mouth-feel.

Try either wine for $10.99 a bottle or grab a wooden crate of 12 bottles for just $108, a savings of almost $2 per bottle. While drier than a typical domestic wine, Bordeaux wines are typically lighter in alcohol and much lower in residual sugar, with minimal chemical adulteration for people who care about such things.
