As many of you know, NomadMania Events — including both Tours and Meetups — are happening around the world almost every week. You can always stay up to date on our Calendar page.

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of co-hosting a special meetup in London in collaboration with the Pangea app and its vibrant travel community. The event took place in the laid-back, outdoor setting of The Miller pub, just a short walk from London Bridge.

We were thrilled to welcome over 40 attendees from incredibly diverse backgrounds. While most are currently based in London, they represent a wide range of cultures and countries — a true reflection of the global spirit that unites our community.

Five UN Masters (our founder Harry, our head of the scholarship sub-committee Yui Pow Redford, Per Besson, Alan Cassels and Evelthon Vasileiou) were joined by countless enthusiastic NomadMania and Pangea members who were overjoyed to be meeting each other and discussing travelled in this casual event.

Special thanks are due to Matt Gray, the founder of Pangea, who was instrumental in the organization of the event, as well as our Envoy to the UK Sravan Tanniru, who helped created special NomadMania wristbands that were given out to all participants. We will most certainly be holding more such events in the Greater London area again!

[INTERVIEW] Matt Gray, the founder of Pangea

On this occasion, we’d also love to introduce you to Matt Gray, the visionary behind Pangea — a social travel app thoughtfully designed to help solo travellers and digital nomads connect, coordinate, and explore the world together. His platform perfectly complements the NomadMania spirit of community and shared adventure.

Raised in Larchmont, New York, with summers spent on family road trips down to North Carolina, his early travels stayed close to home but planted the seeds of curiosity and movement leading to creating one of the most promising travel apps. Read the full interview here

QUESTION: Matt, explain to us exactly what Pangea does and how NomadMania travellers can benefit from it.

Pangea is designed to enable serendipity. It’s a free & simple way to share your plans with friends, see who else is travelling (or wants to travel) to the same places as you, and get notified when your plans overlap. We want to make it easier for people to coordinate their plans, and see their friends more IRL, wherever that might be.

You simply add your upcoming travel plans – both confirmed trips or tentative plans into the app, and decide who else can see these plans. You can make them public if you want to meet other travelers on the app, or keep them private so only your friends can see them.

When you add a new trip or start your journey, your friends are notified.  This allows everyone to comment, share recommendations, decide to join you, or introduce you to their local contacts in a city.
