Strive for 5 Race to Recruit: Winter/Holiday Themed Recruiting Ideas
Holiday Party Fun! Don't forget the Piñata! Have Santa, a Snowman or Elf visit the party and don’t forget the hot cocoa buffet (think sundae topping buffet, but warm)
Scouting Stations – have Scouts from a Troop plan out fun activities all kids would enjoy and set up different stations.
Fort Frenzy – host a fort building competition/fire in the snow – Who doesn’t love building a snow fort? Have each Den/Patrol work together to build a fort. Have a score card so they know what to base their construction on. Then, they must be able to start a fire by their fort.
Snow Art – Grab food coloring and add them to squirt guns or water bottles. Have each child decorate a snowbank. (Fill containers, spray bottles and/or dropper bottles with cold water. Add a few drops of food coloring, using one container or bottle for each color. Be sure to add enough food coloring so it shows up in the snow.)
Tube-u-lar – Plan a tubing event at a local ski mountain or plan to meet up at the best hill in town for a day of sledding and hot cocoa back at your Chartered Org.
Frozen Fun! Ice Fishing/Ice Skating – Plan a day out on the ice!
Encourage each family to invite at least 3 families to your event. Plan an incentive to motivate your Unit. For example; Each family who brings guests is entered into a raffle to win. Families can donate prizes or you could offer a popcorn gift basket with Red Box free movie codes, gift cards to the local ice cream or pizza place, or Unit swag.
