As of Monday morning, December 28, 2020, the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department had received one tray of 975 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Those receiving this initial administration of the vaccine included paramedics/EMTs, staff from long-term care facilities, staff of county testing partners, and public health staff.
This week's data update shows 61,302 cases and 552 deaths due to COVID-19 in Mecklenburg County.
Below is the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' updated vaccine prioritization plan released today:
I feel hopeful that COVID-19 vaccines are starting to be administered in our community. We will soon turn the corner, and I very much look forward to when we can be together in person. But right now, our hospitalizations are on the rise. So for this holiday, please keep doing your best to limit non-essential outings, stay socially distant, wear a mask, and wash hands.
