Chapter Three
It’d been a while since Jake worked a birthday party that wasn’t in the park. He enjoyed parties, but working them outside of WonderWorld had the extra benefit of a hefty payday. Not only did it get him a few hundred dollars in his paycheck, it had the potential for a cash tip.
Duffle bag in hand, he went inside the pizza place. He checked in with the hostess, and barely managed to keep his mouth from dropping open when she brought Michael to him.
“Dude. Twice within a week we run into each other.”
“Weird, right? I didn’t make the connection when I picked up the assignment.”
“You can get changed in the office,” the hostess said. “Follow me.”
“Thanks.” Jake went with her. Michael fell in step next to him.
“You didn’t tell me you were Fire Force.”
“It didn’t exactly come up. I don’t talk about it much. People usually find it weird that I spend hours at a time dressed like a superhero.”
Michael shrugged. “Not so weird. Someone’s got to be in those costumes.”
“Here we are,” the hostess said.
“Great. Thanks.” Jake and Michael went in and Michael closed the door.
“Hope you don’t mind being stuck with me. I told my mom I’d take care of the hero, even before I knew it was you.”
“It’s cool.” Did Michael plan to just stand there? Jake had to get changed, but the office was small, and Michael was so close. It was one thing to change with the people he worked with. This was very different.
There was no choice, though. Jake took the costume out of its bag and kept his back to Michael as he pulled his shirt off.
“So, the semester going good for you?” Michael asked.
At least the conversation could keep Jake’s mind occupied on something besides his crush being right there. “Yeah. I’ve already got a big exam in biology next week, but then it’ll calm down for a couple weeks.”
He stripped off his jeans and took a deep breath as he dropped his boxers too.
Jake pulled on the briefs that went with the costume and got himself adjusted so his bits were comfortable in the pouch.
“So that’s what’s under the suit.”
Goosebumps formed across Jake’s skin as he felt Michael study him.
“Pretty similar to the jock strap you wear on the ice I imagine.” They were comparing underwear. What was happening? Jake wanted the floor to open up so he could disappear, but instead he turned to face Michael.
“True. But there’s room inside the cup.” He pointed at Jake’s crotch. “There’s no way that’s comfortable.”
“You get used to it. It’s the same thing dancers wear under their tights. Gotta make sure to keep everything smooth so there’s nothing inappropriate to see.”
Heat crept across Jakes cheeks as Michael’s eyes moved over him. He fought the urge to reach for his regular clothes to cover up.
“Dude,” Michael said, just above a whisper, “you’re built. I…I didn’t expect that.”
Jake quickly stepped into the suit, bringing it up to his waist so he’d be at least partially dressed.
“Those baggy clothes you wear don’t show the amount of work you must put in. You look really good, Jake.”
“It’s, um, all part of the job. If I don’t look right in the costume, I don’t get to wear it.”
“How long have you been Fire Force?”
“About a year and a half now.” He reached into the underwear to adjust himself since Michael’s gaze caused his cock to stir. He tried to be nonchalant, but suspected that he failed.
“Everything okay in there?” Michael gave a mischievous grin.
“Um, yeah. It’s gonna be a couple hours, gotta make sure everything’s put away right.”
Jake brought the suit up, slid his arms in and pulled the suit into place so only his back was exposed.
“Can you do the zipper, please?” Jake turned.
“You got it.” Michael slowly slid the small metal piece up Jake’s back. Jake suppressed a shudder, wishing that Michael was helping him out of the costume rather than into it.
Focusing on getting ready, Jake took the boots out of the bag and sat in the chair to pull them on.
“Wow. You are the perfect replica of the action figure I bought the other day,” Michael said.
“Wait. Not done yet.” Jake retrieved hair gel and a small mirror from the bag’s side pocket. It didn’t take long for him to spike his hair. To top off the look, he added the orange-tinted goggles. “There. All done.”
“Incredible. You’re totally transformed.”
Jake stood and his hard-on crushed against the briefs. It was going to be a long party at this rate. An adorable smile broke across Michael’s face. Before he could talk himself out of it, Jake leaned in and put a soft kiss on Michael’s lips.
“Shit, man. I’m sorry.” Jake pulled away, took three steps back, and ran into the desk.
Michael stepped forward. Jake cringed, waiting for the worst to happen.
“Dude, it’s okay.” Michael smiled again. “I got kissed by Fire Force. What’s not to like?”
Michael leaned into Jake and returned the kiss. Jake hungrily kissed back. Their tongues met, and Jake’s body vibrated in response.
Even though he didn’t want too, Jake gently pushed Michael back after a few moments.
“Wow.” Michael held on to Jake’s right hand.
“I never thought I’d be kissing someone like you.” Jake regretted the words as soon as he said them.
“Like me?”
“Sorry, that’s so…”
“Shallow?” Michael raised an eyebrow.
“Why would a jock want to kiss a geek like me?”
“Seriously? You’re smart. You’re the only one from lit class who tried to make their presentations interesting. I suspect you only showed off a small part of a wicked sense of humor. You’re also crazy cute. And, seeing you just now, I’d say you’re just as much of a jock as I am.”
“Um. I…” Jake looked everywhere but at Michael.
“And you’re even cuter when you’re flustered.”
Jake buried his face in his hands.
“Alright, we’ve got to stop talking about this. I have to go dazzle your brother.”
“You’re right. He might not like me taking his hero.” Michael shrugged.
That sounded hot, and Jake imagined being taken away. It could make an interesting cosplay, Fire Force captured by a hockey player.
“So, back to business.” Michael cleared his throat as he tried to sound official. “I’m supposed to be your chaperon out there. What does that mean anyway?”
“You just have to make sure I don’t get mobbed. I can handle almost anything, but if I call for you, you’ll need to help me with whatever is going on. It should be a pretty easy couple hours though. Birthday parties tend to be chill.”
“Okay. I’m here if you need me.”
“Let’s get this going then. Lead the way to the birthday boy.”
