CPV Three Rivers Energy Center Breaks Ground

CPV Three Rivers Energy Center broke ground on its 1,250-megawatt natural gas plant. The project represents over $1.3 billion in private investment. Construction is being led by Kiewit Power Constructors Co. and commercial operation is expected to begin in 2023. At peak construction, more than 500 union workers will be onsite.

Proctor & Gamble Held A Virtual Groundbreaking

Procter and Gamble held a virtual groundbreaking on November 12. Carolyn Tastad, Group President for P&G North America, thanked the City of Morris and County of Grundy for welcoming them into the community. P&G was founded in 1837 in Cincinnati, Ohio and has over 58,000 employees worldwide. Mayor Kopczick mentioned he was pleased the facility would be owned and run by P&G employees. The project, located on Rt. 47 across from Morris Airport, is anticipated to be online in mid to late 2022 and employ 300 people. 

Locks and Dams are Open

Dresden Island Lock and Dam

The Illinois Waterway is back open. Major rehabilitation and maintenance projects requiring full closures at four locks and a partial closure at a fifth began in July and ended October 29. 

Grundy County COVID-19 Update

Grundy County continues to see its COVID-19 numbers increase. Last week the positivity rate was the highest it has been since the pandemic began at 14.8%. As of November 6, the total number of positive cases in Grundy was 1,261 people, with 8 residents who have died due to COVID-19 complications. Two additional deaths were announced this week bringing the total to 10.
