Laura and Rick Wade
Married for forty years, the Wades retired to Lake Wylie in September 2022 after spending the previous twenty-three years in Union, SC. They consider raising their three daughters, who are strongly dedicated to their Christian faith, as their greatest accomplishment. They enjoy spending time with their three grandchildren and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a fourth. The couple chose Lake Wylie due to its location close to their girls. They also like the various opportunities and healthcare found here.
Laura grew up in Summerville, SC, while Rick was reared in Chester County, SC, and both accepted Jesus as their savior during their youth. Both were actively involved in service-oriented careers before retirement. Laura was employed in social work and served as director of Union County First Steps; Rick worked for United Parcel Service and later served as a school counselor on all grade levels. Rick, a graduate of North Greenville College, also has a degree from Southeastern Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest. He has pastored three churches. The couple chose CCLW as their church home because they saw ministry opportunities available, especially in small groups, and they love the music and the Contemporary Class. Quickly becoming active, they became volunteers in the church office. Rick says he would love to see our church offer Grace Marriage, a positive, biblical approach to marriage focused on the extension of grace.
In their spare time, the Wades enjoy spending time with their family, which includes Rick assuming the many roles of handyman such as plumbing, painting, hanging ceiling fans, etc. (unfortunately, he is not for hire!). For fun Laura reads and Rick works 1000 piece puzzles. Their favorite Bible verse is I Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
