JENNIFER'S LATEST NEWS

Greetings! As you guys can see, I've changed my newsletter. With the new format, I'll be spotlighting my books, as well as sharing book recommendations and a recipe. I hope that everyone enjoys the new format. Cheers!

Snared, Elemental Assassin #16,

still available

Snared, the 16th book in my Elemental Assassin series, is still available. Woot!

I want to say thanks to everyone for all the nice words, emails, and comments that I've gotten about the book. I appreciate them, and I'm glad that you guys are enjoying Gin's latest adventure.

Irony 101—The Spider herself snared in someone else’s web …

Another week, another few clues trickling in about the Circle, the mysterious group that supposedly runs the city’s underworld. Gathering intel on my hidden enemies is a painstaking process, but a more immediate mystery has popped up on my radar: a missing girl.

My search for the girl begins on the mean streets of Ashland, but with all the killers and crooks in this city, I’m not holding out much hope that she’s still alive.

A series of clues leads me down an increasingly dark, dangerous path, and I realize that the missing girl is really just the first thread in this web of evil. As an assassin, I’m used to facing down the worst of the worst, but nothing prepares me for this new, terrifying enemy—one who strikes from the shadows and is determined to make me the next victim.

Snared is available in print and ebook at all the usual book retailers. The audiobook is available through Audible and Amazon, and the awesome Lauren Fortgang is once again the narrator.

New Mythos Academy and Elemental Assassin books coming soon

I am writing more Mythos Academy books. Woot! This is a spinoff series, and the new books star Rory Forseti, Gwen’s cousin from Midnight Frost and Killer Frost, books #5 and #6 in the original series. Gwen is NOT the heroine in these books, although she and some of the other characters from the original series make cameo appearances in the spinoff books.

The first spinoff book is called Bitter Frost, and I am hoping to self-publish it before the end of the year.

In Elemental Assassin news, Gin and the gang will be back with a new adventure called Venom in Her Veins. From this point on, I will be self-publishing the series. I am hoping to release Venom in Her Veins in spring 2018, but we’ll see what happens.

I'll be sharing cover art, excerpts, and more for both book series as they become available, so stay tuned for more.

BOOK CORNER — HOLIDAY ROMANCES

Can you guys believe that it's October already? That means that the holidays are right around the corner.

One of the things that I enjoy about the season is reading holiday romances, which have already started hitting shelves. I'm talking about some holiday romances that I want to read on my blog, including Moonlight Over Manhattan by Sarah Morgan (out on Nov. 28).

What holiday books do you guys want to read this year?

FROM THE RECIPE BOX

One of the things that I like best about fall are all the great types of apples that are available. My mom makes these fried apple pies, and they are great for breakfast or dessert.

Fried Apple Pies

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough

1 can of canned apples or apple pie filling

Your favorite kind of cooking oil

Cinnamon, powdered sugar, and honey, optional

Roll out each one of the biscuits until they are flat and a few inches wide. Spoon some apples into the center of the dough, then fold the dough over, forming a half moon-shaped pie. Crimp the edges together with a fork.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in a pan. Fry the pie until it is golden brown on both sides. Remove the pie from the heat, and place on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.

Place the pie on a plate, and sprinkle with cinnamon and powdered sugar, and drizzle with honey, if desired. Serve immediately.

Note: You can use any kind of fruit/pie filling that you like in this recipe. Cherry and peach work well. Also, for more of a dessert, serve the pie hot with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

Note: For an extra bit of sweetness and taste of fall, you could sprinkle some dried cranberries on top of the fried pies.
