The Culture Crawl is a campus-wide event celebrating several cultural heritage sites and groups at CU Boulder. Stop by the different locations and take part in immersive activities, performances, games, and shows. Every location you visit gives you a chance to win a prize.

The Center for African & African American Studies, or the CAAAS, is partnering with the Black Alumni Association to have the first "Black Buff Update" on October 28 at 2 PM. The Black Buff Update is meant for Black Alumni and other interested community members to get a snapshot of the efforts of the CAAAS and to share overall metrics regarding how Black students are "doing" here at CU. This is an opportunity for Black Alumni and other community members to reengage in impactful relationships with CU and get an idea of how they can support us as all we move toward cultivating a more supportive community for Black Students, faculty, and staff.

Join Dean and Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education Daryl Joji Maeda as he discusses his most recent book, "Like Water: A Cultural History of Bruce Lee." An Asian and Asian American icon of unimaginable stature and influence, Bruce Lee revolutionized the martial arts by combining influences drawn from around the world. By blending cultural history with biography, Like Water unearths the cultural strands that Lee intertwined in his rise to global stardom.

Performance Ethnography with Blanca Caldas Chumbes

Stephanie Renee Toliver, Ph.D., assistant professor of literacy and secondary humanities in the School of Education at CU Boulder, received the grant for the lecture series. The virtual series, accessible via Zoom, begins October 4 and continues through December 13. 

This series, ‘Art Meets Data,’ is an interdisciplinary sequence that attempts to build upon this conversation by featuring social science researchers who draw on the humanities to enhance their data collection, analysis, and representation. Each lecture reinforces the humanities by focusing on the connection between the social sciences and history, art, literature, music, dance and/or sound.”

Join Dr. Johnson for a talk on radical imagination as a tool for justice.
Radical imagination is an exercise in thinking beyond the constraints of our current world in an effort to build new futures. Unfortunately, the average US American is a passive consumer of digital content due to a lack of media literacy skills. This results in empty justice movements that create rhetorical tensions instead of alleviating systemic injustice. Curiosity and imagination are two answers to our current state of affairs and a map towards thinking of critical futures.

Join the Men of Excellence initiative for our next event, Buff Talks: Thriving Academically as Men of Color in Abrams Lounge (located on the third floor in the Center for Community (C4C)). Several staff and students of color will share their personal experiences on student success and navigating academic endeavors as men of color through the art of storytelling.
