THE ACCOUNTABILITY QUESTIONNAIRE FOR THE UN SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON TORTURE IS DUE ON SATURDAY MAY 15!
For those working on their responses to the Special Rapporteur's questionnaire, the due date is Saturday, May 15 at 6 PM CEST. The questionnaire word limit is 2000 words and it must be formatted in WORD or pdf. then emailed to the Special Rapporteur at: sr-torture@ohchr.org.
PACTS will be emailing its submission tonight at midnight Pacific time / 9 PM Eastern. Those that wish to co-sign our submission must reply to this email sending their name and city and state if they live in the US and their name, city and state and country if they live outside the US by the above-mentioned time.
SINGER VAN MORRISON: TARGETED INDIVIDUAL?
Northern irish singer-songwriter, Van Morrison is receiving a lot of attention these days for one of the songs on his latest album, "Latest Record Project, Vol. 1" where he describes himself as a "targeted individual." We have yet to hear him speak publicly on this topic, however, you may hear more about this subject in the near future.
It is song number 8 on the album and here is brief excerpt from the lyrics and a link to an article about the album from the arts and media magazine, Variety.

UPDATE: SADAN HE'S B-A-A-A-A-A-AK......
After last week's article about Sadan who a few of us concluded had passed away recently, after a brief stay at a local hospital, I received a text from the Executive Director of the Allen Institute for Human Rights, Mr. Frank Allen who is asserting that Sadan is actually "not dead."
According to his research, Sadan's middle name is not Perry, but Caprice and his birthday was not February 8, but February 2 as stated on the obituary at the link provided in last week's newsletter.
Well, could there be another Jerome Howell born in the area where he lives a few days after the one we know? Well, I guess we'll know if he shows up again at our call. Maybe he will come back soon and clear this up himself. Hey, Sadan....
LATEST TI SHOOTING: EVERTON BROWN IN BALTIMORE, MD
There was a shooting lately in Baltimore by someone who appears to have been targeted. He was not someone familiar to me and no one that I've talked to thus far. Here is an article from the Baltimore Sun that describes what happened:

THE MURDER OF JEFF MURRAY
Many of us in the community knew Jeff Murray. He has been with us for many years. We received the news on Monday night during our conference call that he had been gunned down by police the previous day around 11 am on Sunday morning.
Jeff has been a part of our community for close to 15 years and was known to be somewhat of a hothead. This incident may have been something contrived by the perps - as are most incidents of this nature - however, on the bright side, he is no longer suffering as a targeted individual. May he finally be at peace.
