Dear Friend,

Happy Monday!  We're so glad you're here.

BlackHer Shero of the Week

Our BlackHer Shero of the Week is BELOVED Toni Morrison.

It's impossible to share what Morrison means to us as Black women.  But here are a few essential lessons she taught us.

  • WORDS MATTER - We must use them with care, creativity, and courage.
  • WE MATTER - As Black women, we have a right to center ourselves regardless of what others think, say, or do.
  • SUFFERING IS REAL - There is no way to outrun it.  Instead, if we listen well, what hurts so much may also heal.

Thank you Ms. Morrison for showing us how to live with integrity, creativity, and power. While you have passed from this plane, your legacy is everlasting.

Stacey Abrams is Still Fighting Her Heart Out For Us

Speaking of Black women who don't succumb to disappointment, Stacey Abrams launched a powerful new campaign this week, called Fair Fight 2020.  She aims to combat voter suppression in 20 key states and secure access to the ballot for all of us.

"It would have been easy for Stacey Abrams to walk away from politics altogether after her race ended in November. But she did the opposite. In the midst of her hurt and disappointment, she decided that her state, the South and the country are worth fighting for."
