• This tweet references the new legislation which allows college athletes in the US to profit over their name, image and likeness.

• Previously, student athletes are never paid and could not receive sponsorships or sometimes even gifts while all the coaches and schools made millions off their popularity.

• This is a big step in ensuring athletes who don’t make it to the big leagues could at least have a small amount of money to fall back on.

2. Best Advice 📝

• The best advice that I have received this year hasn’t been from someone famous. It came from my friend who said:

• ‘It’s important to recognise that you can have flaws, worries and doubts and still be deserving of love. You don’t have to be perfect as long as you’re putting in the effort to be the person you want to be.’

• At my point in life, I’m at the grind phase where I need to work extra hard to be where I want to be but this reminded me that I am still valuable even when I have not got there yet.

3. Best Podcast Episode 🎧

• Hosted by Welsh farmer, Will Evans, this podcast gives an insight to the people that produce the food we eat.

• Every week someone with a farming/food connection would be interviewed and you would hear wonderful stories of the people we sometimes take for granted.

• This episode speaks to some young farmers who are breaking the farming stereotype and are doing wonderful things for the industry.

4. Best Purchase 💸

• My best purchase of this year is hands down my road bike.

• After moving to somewhere that is not a city, I had to find a way to get to work and back.

• I eventually decide that a car was too expensive and also the fact that I don’t have a UK license doesn’t help so I bought a bicycle instead.

• 3 out of 5 days, I cycle to work, and, on the weekends, I sometimes go for longer bike rides.

• This has made me a little healthier and the winter wind in my face every morning gets me ready for work.

• Also, look at it, it’s beautiful!

5. Best Movie 🍿

• Finally, my movie of the year is ‘Another Round’.

• Starring the brilliant Mads Mikkelsen in his native Danish. This movie is an experiment and examination of our relationship with alcohol.

• Deeply personal to me and extremely well-paced, Another Round develops criticism and story hand in hand without being preachy.

• I do love a film which makes you think, and boy did this make me think.

• If you ever get a chance to watch it make sure you watch it at an independent cinema because that makes the experience so much more intimate.
