Fatherhood, Foodiehood

Hey guys,

Sunday is back and so are we. Actually it’s just me today, Arushi.

As some of you might have guessed by the title, today’s theme is not just about food, it’s also about my 2 fathers.

Food holds a very special place in my life. All my important life experiences and memories have some or the other form of food in them and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

But what I didn’t realize till recently was that I’m a foodie because my dad is a foodie.

One of my early memories is being woken up in the middle of the night because my dad was back from his work-trip and had brought Gulab Jamuns for all of us. He used to be so excited to share his newest food find with us that it couldn’t even wait till the morning!

He’s the OG foodie of my life. No matter where we went for his official work, he always came back with yummy treats for us!

Be it Sev from Indore, or Kachori from Jamnagar, or Plum Cake from Dehradun or Petha from Agra, I had enjoyed all these delicacies without once leaving my hometown by the age of 7!

Mid-night icecream sessions were common with my dad. He was a Let’s-have-chocobar-at-midnight-on-christmas eve kinda guy. And that too in Nainital as the snow came drizzling all around us.

My dad is also the one to introduce me to the combination of Coke + Icecream, way before Mc Donald’s even existed in India.

And I think this has continued with me loving food and the memories good food brings with it.

And for the longest time, I thought that this was something specific to my dad, because no other father figures in my family were this crazy about food.

It was only a few years back when I got married, that I came to know another man just as passionate about food as my own dad - my father in law.

My FIL is not big on food bought from outside, so he does something even better - he cooks! There are actually days designated in our family when the whole meals are prepared by him single-handedly!

He has taught me that a meal is best enjoyed sitting down with loved ones, without any other distractions. He loves food so much that he plans all our daily meals and always has something for everyone on the menu.

But here's something that no one knows - my FIL was my daily taster & critique while making recipes for Dohful Cookies! He used to give me detailed thoughts on which batch was better and why.

So really, the cookies that you guys love as much mine as his!

I can very proudly say that if not for my two very special fathers, I probably wouldn't have been at this place in my food journey.  And I'm going to tell them about this on Father's Day.

If you guys are also looking for ways to wish your dads a Happy Father's Day, I suggest you can do it with a box of Macadamia Nuts Cookies

It's such a Dad cookie, I don't even know why!

I just noticed a couple of months back that this is the most popular cookie amongst the Dad generation, so I think it would be a safe bet!

P.S.: Our TreatYourself coupon for 20% OFF on two packs or more is still here. Try it for yourself.

P.P.S: Even as I was writing this, I came to know about Sushant Singh Rajput. RIP Sushant, we can't believe you're gone! 😢
