“Emotional pain is an opportunity. The life in me is wanting something.”
Robert Gonzales
Reflection
I have just heard that Robert Gonzales left us. When I read the quote from him, my eyes are filled with tears. It is a rather radical claim that emotional pain is an opportunity. What does life within me want at this moment? The first thing that comes to mind is that I would like to once again be able to sit in the same circle as Robert, hear his voice, experience his presence and the care he showed to everyone. And also to see his vulnerability and hear him talk about his shortcomings and challenges. To see him in all his humanity. Rest in peace Robert.
Today's exercise
One of the main practices I learned from Robert was dyads.
Contact someone you know and do a dyad meditation. Sit opposite each other online or offline. Person A asks person B: “Life in me, life in you, what is life longing for?” Person A listens in present silence while person B shares what’s alive. Then you change roles. Repeat as many times as you want.
