Hello from Chicago!
Wherever you happen to be, hope you’re reading a good book, either at the beach, in a mountain cabin or at home in your favorite chair. It took awhile but it’s definitely summer in the city now. So far, we’ve had drought, torrential rain (eight inches in one day), two days of the worst air quality in the world (Canadian wildfires) and a storm resulting in eleven tornadoes touching down in the Chicagoland suburbs. Fortunately, no serious injuries reported, but lots of property damage. Not exactly Chamber-of-Commerce weather, but certainly not as bad as some places. Seeing the flooding in New York’s Hudson Valley where I grew up is heartbreaking.
Climate change makes traveling challenging, but in June, I took a ten-day trip to Louisiana. Since New Orleans is one of my favorite places to visit, I knew it would be a great time, and it was!
