The public review period for the first of three phases of changes to the General Regulation 91-191 is ongoing. WorkSafeNB wants to understand the economic and business impacts of proposed amendments to your workplace. Current topics are:

• Logging and silviculture
• Working with materials containing asbestos
• Updating occupational exposure limits to 2016 levels

• Air quality and ventilation requirements

Even if these changes do not have an economic or business impact on your workplace, we need to know that too! Please participate in the review or share this message with your membership. 

The review can be accessed at gnb.ca and will run until March 14, 2022.

Slips, trips and falls can happen in any New Brunswick workplace. In 2018, 1,387 New Brunswickers were hurt seriously enough from a slip, trip or fall to miss time from work. That hurts.

When you add it up, those injuries accounted for more than $21.8 million in direct costs. That hurts too.

That’s why we've launched the Slips, Trips and Falls campaign. In addition to raising awareness around the issue, we are challenging New Brunswickers to help us out. Anyone can do it! All it takes is a watchful eye and a commitment to looking out for your own safety, and that of your co-workers. 

We value collaboration with workplaces to keep New Brunswickers safe. When workplaces operate unsafely, WorkSafeNB health and safety officers have tools at their disposal to help including education, consultation, writing orders and prosecutions. Administrative penalties are a tool to motivate workplace parties to focus on safety. An administrative penalty is a monetary amount that may be imposed on an employer, supervisor, employee or other workplace party for failing to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act or regulations.
