Merry Christmas 🎅

Anticipating some changes to our regional divisions, in early December we asked your advice on several crucial points by inviting you to take part in a poll. Almost 1,000 NomadMania members responded, giving us some interesting insight and a better understanding where the community stands.

The poll included ten questions and had two dimensions: some general, and others very specific. Interestingly, the specific questions resulted in much greater homogeneity and clarity in the answers.

The general questions… oh boy. The NomadMania community is seriously divided — both by age and by the number of regions visited.

See the report on the First Regions Poll here…

*** including which countries will receive new regions first.

Second Regions Poll

We would now like to ask you a few additional questions in order to gain a clearer picture before we begin implementing changes early next year.

Have your say in the Second Regions Poll here.

Trips Functionality Updates

After launching a new (and improved) way to record trips in beta last week, we noticed hundreds of NomadMania members already using this feature. The main difference is that it now requires exact dates to be entered.

As expected, we also identified a few bugs, most of which have now been fixed. Our system will additionally remind you to add dates if they are missing. Please update your NomadMania mobile app (ipone/android) app.

In the annual summary we have also introduced a smoother and more detailed way to view regions visited per country during a given year.

In addition, there is now an option to add a transit. Please note that a transit is not counted as a visit and does not add to the number of days travelled.

*** If the total number of days spent in regions is greater than the total number of days for the country, this means there is an overlap, as it is possible to visit several regions in a single day.

Trips ’25 beta is now integrated to general TRIPS and can be found in the menu on both the app and the web versions. Try it out if you have not had the chance to do so yet.

Soon we will migrate this same system to all previous years. Your existing data will remain untouched; however, any new trips or edits will require exact dates to be entered.

Please note that you can always use Quick Visit Entry by simply clicking Regions and Countries marked as visited on the map or in the lists.

Our vision is to make NomadMania the world’s best travel tracker. To achieve this, we are building a system where you enter your travel data once, in one place, and the platform takes care of everything else.

A Work of Art

At NomadMania, everything we do is approached as an art form. Our upcoming annual flagship live event — Conference 6 in Brazil (June 10-14, 2026) — is a perfect example of this philosophy, having been curated with exceptional care and intention.

We connect so many moving part to make it a truly epic event:

  • Location: Ouro Preto, a magical historic town
  • Direct cooperation with the city's mayor and his team
  • The main conference venue: Casa da Ópera, the oldest continuously functioning opera house in Latin America
  • The central theme of the event is UN+
  • We will visit three UNESCO World Heritage Sites
  • Several side events will be hosted in stunning mid-20th-century venues designed by the world-renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer
  • the unforgettable cuisine of the state of Minas Gerais
  • The event coincides with Dia dos Namorados on 12 June — Brazil’s equivalent of Valentine’s Day
  • 14 June, Brazil faces Morocco in the FIFA World Cup, a true nationwide celebration.

In Memoriam

The one and only Jorge Sanchez has left us... one of the greatest Spanish travellers and big supporters of NomadMania in its early days. RIP Jorge!

This is not the message we envisaged for a day like today. But along with our wishes to you all for health and happiness in every aspect of your lives, we wish to celebrate the life of one of the travel greats, who not only approached the world with incredible curiosity, but was also very keen to share with the community.

A prolific writer of travel books in his native Spanish, including 'Around the world in 1001 days' and a more recently published autobiography, he was also very active within the travel community, being among the first to produce a challenging list of exploits that big travellers should endeavour. Jorge will certainly be deeply missed.
