Where are the classes? +

South Perth Foreshore, South Perth (𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗣𝗶𝗻)

Go left, along the river front at the end of Coode Street and face the water. Walk all the way across the left hand car parks (past the boat hire store 'Fun Cats'), until you reach 3 paperbark trees, where you will see people with yoga mats setting up. This is where we are located.

Do you have spare mats? +

Yes. You can submit your mat request with your booking form.

There is no charge for this. Simply answer 'No' to the question, 'Will you be bringing your own mat?' on the booking form, when you reserve a spot using our website. There are usually plenty of yoga mats available for you to borrow if you don't have your own, or would like to test what type of mat works best for you, before buying your own. Please use the sanitizing mat cleaner and a cloth provided to wipe down the mat after using one.

What if it will rain? +
Full refund and sufficient notice provided if we cancel. We historically don't.

☔ We continue our 9.30am Sunday class throughout winter (May-Sep), so if it does rain for more than 10% of the class on any occasion, we do credit you for a full class to claim again. We aim to notify members of cancellations 12 or more hours in advance and make refunds easy, in the rare instance that a cancellation cannot be avoided because of weather. If you have NOT received notice of cancellation from us within 12 hrs prior to class, or by 8am on the morning of an evening class (the same day), then be assured that the teacher and class will be proceeding as planned. As a general rule of thumb we will cancel if the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a 90% or higher chance of unfavorable/rainy weather. In these instances the ground and environment is not usually safe or enjoyable enough to do so. You can leave it to us to monitor the weather and inform you from our feed at the B.O.M and STATE GOVERMENT websites or you can now view critical announcements and cancellation notices in real-time by bookmarking our status page in your browser, and seek confirmation about our next event or incidents effecting you, immediately when you need it.

Are you Religious or Political? +
undefined
No. We accomodate your decisions about spirituality and society, through yoga.

Yoga knowledge references and relates heavily to ideas and concepts encompassing the modern and past societies lived in. Yoga sometimes even mimics practices of religious groups and vice versa, (such as chanting or prayer pose). You are free to both, experience practices for your self AND choose how to integrate them along with beliefs that you learn in your own life. Or.... you can strip the mind back to bring in newness. 2021 saw the reaffirmation of our pledge as an organisation, to prohibit instructors or staff from providing political guidance/opinions and to ensure that our yoga teachers are trained to instruct you without implying ever, that any one way or orientation of worship is better than another or should be considered as doctrine. Similarly, you need no qualification from any authority to practice yoga. We continue to facilitate what you need and respect the personal and highly offensive nature of appearing to be delivering religious ceremony. If you would like to learn more about topics connected with Hindu texts for context or exploration we recommend seeking out the appropriate religious leader. That being said... we stick to delivering the yoga ;)

What if I am a bit delicate? +

Yoga is a practice of NOT straining. Autonomy over your choices remains yours. We encourage you to take the slow, consiencious journey back into the saddle.

It is our advice, in any class to never strain your body or breathe during yoga, yet as a strengthening and empowering practice it can certainly feel strenuous to the less practiced attendee. Our classes are known for being the most beginner friendly, traditional yoga classes on offer in Perth. This comes down to the kindness, dedication and experience of the teachers. It is vital for us, that we foster the intentions that you come to your mat with, so all our CUES are INVITATIONAL and our teachers are compassionate to you about how your body changes the way it feels, on any given day. We can consider your own unique circumstances when you book, to help you manage your responsibility for safety and getting the best result for you. Our website allows for you to attach notes to your booking, so that your teacher can see the note when checking you in. You can refer your teacher to those confidential notes instead of having a conversation (in public) about any potential concerns or vulnerabilities, that we encourage you to communicate when you feel appropriate to do so. The Foundations of Yoga workshops we deliver each Monday at 5.30pm, is designed especially for beginners or returning praticitioners. You can find the event on the 'Book' menu of our website or by using the button below. The class runs Sep to Apr each year. If it is your first time practicing yoga with us you will need to complete a Student In-take form to record your emergency details and disclosures, prior to attending your first class.

What your policy on COVID? +

Outdoor precautionary measures observed, Covid Safety Plan

To ensure the maximum safety of our patrons and the public, when you attend our events, we require you to cooperate to the extent that we must comply with external government directions. Precautionary procedures remain part of operations, reflected more recently in updates to our ticket terms, check-in process and WorkSafe related policies. Mandatory requirements include: Lining up on arrival at a distance (round the back of the trees), the use of sanitizer and mat cleaning solution before and after class, 2m distancing, trusted symptom disclosure options and mandatory registration to our school. You can still participate by turning up and the teacher will create a booking and take payment. No physical adjustments or contact is currently permitted at our events at this time. To view our most re Covid Safety Plan to which our terms now refer to, head over to our dedicated Covid and Service Status page. Our Status Page is a live feed from our teams app and emails which relays incidents and changes we report, cancellations and important information that may affect you in some way, our operations or the public in general.

Are you a charity? +

No. We are a Pty Ltd (small business) with a N-F-P primary focus, being our Social Mission: "To increase the vitality and mobility of people in Australia".

Perth Yoga for Everybody incorporated the Meetup Group privately in 2015, as One Race Pty Ltd trading as 'Perth Yoga for Everybody', with it's funding and operational capital coming privately from the founding owner and purchasing participants contributing each week. To sustain the longevity of our program for future generations, our teachers are paid above industry award rates for the service they do consistently for our community, by teaching our classes. Our pricing model is a hybrid of affordable priced tickets and charitable concessions. Our optional donation program allows students, seniors and income support recipients to attend for free or by donation, to support members when their circumstances become more difficult, financially. The decision to register as a Charity was revisited in 2017 and again in 2019 with unfavorable support due to a lack of experienced committee personelle and the administrative systems to support the level of reporting compliance required. In short, we decided that we trust our selves to deliver on showing that a corporate legal entity, like a human, can operate for non-monetary reasons. It is from the feeling of joy that we continue to gather.

Can I pay by donation? +
undefined
Yes, if you are a student, senior or on Centrelink AND you complete this form👇

Submit the online form below and get an instant response and approval to drop whatever coins you can afford in the teacher's container when you arrive. Once approved, your teacher will know your eligibility when they enter your booking name on arrival, and you also don't have to give anything if you cannot afford to. More is explained in the welcome email to Donation Members. You will need to submit a photo of the front and back of the relevant concessional ID to be approved. You can reapply as many times as you need, upon expiry. The beauty of our Donation program is that your ticket subsidy comes from the person paying full price, who is practicing yoga next to you. Our social impact is reflected upon on the anniversary of key dates, in email newsletters and statements we publish and send to our members.

Some practice tips

Consider wearing loose comfortable clothes. Spare mats can be available, if sprayed and wiped down afterwards. Avoid eating food 3-4 hrs prior if at all possible. Wear sunscreen for when you walk to and from the event to avoid being over exposed to UV rays. We do not believe in 'aggressive yoga', yoga is challenging enough, so just bring yourself and give some thought to a resolution or intention for your practice (a 'sankalpa'). Finally, let go of your excitement and expectations after you arrive. Feel free to share this email with any friends or family that may be equally as enthusiastic about joining us for yoga by the river.

Can I bring my child or friend? +

Yes. Friends just need to fill out the Student In-Take form to register. Legal guardians must register and communicate with our school on a minor's behalf.

You can book and arrive with up to 10 participants (including children aged 7-17) as a group, attending together. Children are permitted to join the classes held on Sunday. If you would like to bring a child, please ensure you have named them on your Student In-Take Form, or resubmit a new form providing your child's/(rens') full name/(s) and date/(s) of birth, declaring your legal guardian status in relation to them. Letters of consent can be uploaded via this form for you to be responsible for any other children and you can nominate non-legal guardians to attend with your child. Our week day classes are only for adults age 18 years or older. Our Sunday teachers are registered on the WWC and we allow for and stricter child protection procedures on those, family-friendly event days.
