Scouting in Connecticut
Serious injuries can occur when it’s cold and you spend time working, playing, or sleeping outside, particularly if you are wet or your clothes are wet or too tight. Scouts should be instructed to inform an adult as soon as possible if they are at an event, winter camp, or troop campout and start experiencing any of the symptoms in this Safety Moment.
We have lots of programs added to our Winter Adventure page. Check out the program offerings for Scouts of all ages. We will see you at one of the Winter Adventures. Click the button below to see all of the programs, locations, and dates.
With most of the Scouting for Food Drives happening now and in the first few weeks of November we would like to send out a reminder. After your units food drive is completed, fill out the Scouting for Food Report Card. We have given out over 80,000 bags and want to know how your unit did. We asking units to fill out report so we can track community service hours, give us data to help market the drive, and for possible assist in grant opportunities. Click the button below to fill out the quick form. If your unit does fill out we will feature your Pack, Troop, or Crew on our Facebook page.

It’s that magical time of year! The air is crisp, the leaves are changing colors, and it’s time for your unit to recharter. There are a number of changes to the rechartering process for this year, so I would ask that you please take the time to read the information in the link and review the online documents fully. We’ll do our best to cover everything, but please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions and/or concerns. TOP 5 REASONS TO PROMPTLY SUBMIT NEW MEMBER APPLICATIONS
Immediate Recognition! The only way to get new Scouts into Scoutbook is to submit an application – gotta get them in so they can start working on achievements!
Insurance! Ensure that all youth are covered by accident & sickness insurance, and that you and your chartered organization are covered for liability.
Communication! Capture all of the family’s contact info from the application. You will also be able to email directly from Scoutbook once the family is registered.
Make Rechartering Easier! If you turn in the applications, the Council does the data-entry. Why add that to your recharter workload?
Families Expect It! When a family joins your unit, they believe they’ve done everything they need to join Scouting. Don’t mislead them. They aren’t members until that application is turned in and processed.
