Religions place in Generation Alpha’s world can be uncertain. They are growing up in a culture where the church is much less of a priority than it was for previous generations. Studies show the majority of Gen Z and Gen Alphas have no connection to church or biblical principles. As we celebrate our youth throughout the month of August, we look at some encouraging Bible verses for young people to learn from...
Timothy 4:12 teaches…
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Young people are in search of their own role models, but as this quote notes, it’s important for youth to start building themselves up as someone worth admiring by others. Having faith, being pure and loving people is what can help you be someone to admire.
Samuel 17:42 reads…
And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him, for he was but a youth, ruddy and handsome in appearance.
This scripture comes from the story of David and Goliath, where young David slayed the giant Goliath. It shows that no matter the size or strength, it’s possible to tackle even the most intimidating of foes.
Proverbs 1:8-9 states...
Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.
And Ephesians 6:1-3 instructs…
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother — which is the first commandment with a promise — that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
These verses are about staying true to your parents and not disrespecting them. It’s important to take care of your elders.
Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 advises...
Young people, enjoy your youth. Be happy while you are still young. Do what you want to do, and follow your heart’s desire. But remember that God is going to judge you for whatever you do. Don’t let anything worry you or cause you pain. You aren’t going to be young very long.
This scripture is very poignant for young people. Ecclesiastes’ message to enjoy life for what it is now shows that eventually things change for young people. There isn’t one finite number that determines old age. It can come at any time.
And finally, Psalm 25:7 reminds us of Gods forgiveness and grace through these words,
Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
It’s important for our youth to know that what they do as young people can be forgiven. To God Be The Glory that with the blessing of this passage, and God’s forgiveness for past troubles, Gen Z and Gen Alpha can find hope in the modern world.
