The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (FPISC) has announced that it will be holding weekly virtual Information Sessions on the Environmental Review Improvement Fund Tribal Assistance Program (ERIF TAP). On November 2, 2023, FPISC announced
that it is accepting applications for its $5 million ERIF TAP, which will provide funds to support Tribal engagement in the environmental review and authorization process for FAST-41 covered projects. Under the ERIF TAP, Tribal Nations can secure funding for several resources that may be needed to engage in the permitting process including, but not limited to, additional staff for Tribal Historic Preservation Officers or Natural Resource offices; upgrading office equipment; training; consultants; reimbursement for travel; and more.
Details regarding the upcoming virtual ERIF TAP Information Sessions are as follows—
The FAST-41 program currently has a portfolio of nearly $100 billion in large-scale infrastructure projects—including those in the renewable energy, coastal restoration, broadband, and electricity transmission sectors. Many of the offshore wind projects on the eastern seaboard are covered under FAST-41. To view a full list of FAST-41 projects, please click here. If your Tribal Nation is participating in the review of one or more of these projects, then you may qualify to apply for funding through the ERIF TAP. Questions regarding these Information Sessions or the ERIF TAP should be directed to PoQueen Rivera, Director of Tribal Affairs, FPISC, at PoQueen.Rivera@fpisc.gov.
