29 April 2022
Kia ora koutou,
I hope you all had a wonderful break and were able to enjoy your family time, and hopefully avoid COVID.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone back on Monday for the start of Term 2. Hopefully, there will be no disruptions.
As you are aware masks are not compulsory in schools currently, but are recommended. It could be good practice for your Year 4-6 child to have a mask with them at school. Public health advice is that masks continue to be strongly encouraged when indoors. Wearing a mask is a key health measure that slows the spread of COVID-19 in indoor settings. There are no vaccine passes required for volunteers currently, nor any agency workers, contractors, or visitors.
On Monday we will be welcoming 15 new students into Room 7 with Mrs Morrison plus at least 4 more children throughout the school.
Regarding staffing, Mrs Whiting, who was sick with COVID for a long period of time will be back at the beginning of the term and we all look forward to seeing her again, as her class will be.
We also welcome back Mrs Naera into Room 5 (Yr 5) from maternity leave. It will be great to have Emma back. Emma will not be working Thursdays. Mrs Leigh Jewell will be teaching Room 5 on Thursdays. We also will be welcoming back Mrs Jaime Wilkinson, who will work every second Thursday in Room 17 (Yr 3) when Claudine Wallace has her release.
As a staff, we farewelled Ella Bioletti at the end of the term. At the time of writing this newsletter, she has not had her baby yet, so we may see her back for a few days this term. Ella was brilliant in Room 5 and will be missed. We wish her and Geoff all the best.
Please stay safe and if for any reason your child is not well, please do not send them to school. Please notify the office.
Finally, as I mentioned in the opening paragraph, I really hope this term can be as normal as possible, without interruptions, without restrictions, and hopefully our COVID cases among staff, students and families are a lot less than in Term 1, and we can start to reconnect fully as a school community.
See you all on Monday.
Ngā mihi,
Bruce Cunningham
