I’ve read a ton, and have all sorts of great recommendations. FYI, you can get weekly recommendations and more details on all of these amazing stories at The Creative Edge on my Friday blog. I’d love it if you joined the conversation!
Slow Productivity - Cal Newport
I was thrilled to get my (multiple) copies of this book. It’ was the perfect complement to my social media break, and its core thesis: “1. Do fewer things. 2. Work at a natural pace. 3. Obsess over quality.” Really speaks to me. It may look like I’m doing more, rather than less, but I’m not, and this is why.
The New Couple in 5B - Lisa Unger
Lisa Unger is simply brilliant, and I love everything she does. Her ability to crawl inside a character’s head and bare their soul piece by jagged piece is unparalleled.
The Truth about the Devlins - Lisa Scottoline Talk about a truly magnificent writer, with a long and storied career. This book is sitting next to me as we speak, and I am entranced.
Everyone is Watching - Heather Gudenkauf
Tight, and smart, and an utter page turne, Heather always has her finger on the pulse, and this game show gone wrong is spot on.r.
Watch it Burn - Kristin Bird
Kristen’s got a great voice, and the book simmers with malice! A great cover, too.
Find Me in California - Kerry Lonsdale
I am a huge fan, and I received the galley this week and had to include it because I know I’m going to love it!
The Other Valley - Scott Alexander Howard
This book haunts me. The idea of our past, present, and future being separated by jagged mountains, and you can apply to visit one or the other in a moment of duress, still blows my mind. It’s going to be a TV show, too.
The Busy Body - Kemper Donovan
Highly recommended by Barbara Peters at the Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale, this quirky, sarcastic mystery does not disappoint. The plot--a ghostwriter hired to do a politician’s memoir--is spot on for both lots of fun and a perfect set up for murder.
